Great location, comfy place to stay.
My family of four stayed in this apartment for a week of power tourism. The location exceeded my expectations! It was so convenient to the bus lines, and both the Powell and California cable cars. Union Square is just a short walk down the street. I was originally a bit concerned about it being close to the Tenderloin, but that actually turned out to be a positive. We definitely thought about our route walking home after dark, but we also discovered some amazing cheap and tasty restaurants (Thai, Vietnamese, Pakistani, etc) just a few blocks away. There are also a number of markets, coffee shops, salons and shopping so close. Loved it!
As for the apartment itself, it's just as cute as the pictures and super clean. I'm not sure the place would really accommodate 6 people comfortably - the one pullout sofa is pretty small. But for an 8 and 12 year old that didn't want to share a bed, it worked out very nicely for them to each have their own. We didn't use them, but there are heavy curtains that can be pulled to give the living room some privacy while others can still access the kitchen and bath. I wouldn't want to try to do any major cooking in the tiny kitchen, but for light meals and snacks it did the trick. And hey, why cook when there are so many amazing places to eat out?
As for the noise mentioned in other reviews, we slept with the windows open several nights and didn't really experience excessive noise, just the normal noise level in an urban area. There is a club downstairs that appears to only open on the weekend nights, and that added a few more passers-by those nights, but nothing major. And, it's nice to be up on the second floor so you do have the option of opening the windows.
My husband gave me major kudos for scoring this place on the busiest week of the year in SF. This apartment made me look like a rockstar trip planner! We would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to others!
