Comfortable and spacious apartment in Avignon

We rented the 2 bedroom apartment at Le Clos du Rempart for a week in October. The apartment was large, clean and ideal for 3-4 adults. It was on the second floor with about 20 stairs to climb.
Our hostess was very accommodating with our late arrival from Paris via the high speed TGV train. We exchanged e-mails before we arrived and that was helpful and reassuring. Our hostess provided great directions to get to the apartment at night and in a very unfamiliar conditions. When we arrived, our hostess provided us with startup food which was very helpful for Sunday morning (coffee, milk, OJ, fresh fruit) plus directions to the bakery the next morning. It was very thoughtful.
The residence contains 2 bed and breakfast units and the apartment. We were given orientation information and helpful advice, but basically we were on our own - which is what we expected.
Avignon is a great central location to branch out on day trips to Provence and the Cote d'Azur. We toured Avignon on the first day and then traveled in all directions each day thereafter. Our rental car could be parked on the nearby street overnight as the residence was on a tiny street with no guaranteed parking. Not a major problem.
The apartment itself was fully equiped and had everything needed for light cooking (or consuption of wine with local bread and cheese). The bathroom was clean and modern, probably renovated in recent years. The immediate neighborhood was residental, but in walking distance of stores and restaurants. There is a local university within the walls of the City so there were lots of students in the neighborhoold. The Pope's Palace and the tourist areas were only a 15 minute walk. At all times we felt safe walking either day or night.
I highly recommend the apartment as a great way to experience local living in Avignon.
