About The Owner

My husband and I had this house built to give the most comfort and fun for weekly renters. We live 15 minutes away and are available to answer questions or arrange for necessary repairs.

The Owner purchased this house in 2001

Why The Owner chose Topsail Beach

This property on the canal was a Queens Grant to my Great Uncle Harvey Jones' family and I spent every summer visiting him on this Island. He owned and operated the Dolphin Pier until he died. It was eventually destroyed and the property which spanned from the ocean to Hwy 17 in Hampstead was developed. The area has a lot of history and one of the Towers from Operation Bumblebee in World War II is visible from the windows.

What makes this house unique

The ease of access to the beach or boat or relaxing decks are one of the nicest features of this house. Whatever your mood, there is something to suit it!

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5
We took our 3 children to this property for a week's vacation & it was absolutely perfect! There was plenty of room for everyone. The sunsets were amazing and the ease of getting on/off our boat was so convenient. The beach is just a short walk...and was so peaceful! Ms. Evans was great to work with & I am happy to say that we are returning in just 2 months for a long weekend:). We have traveled and stayed at many places....this one is our favorite....we highly recommend it!!!!

GOOD TIME

  • 5 of 5
Very clean and updated. Many items a newbie could forget - salt & pepper, dish washer liquid etc. were in the cabinets. Dog friendly street - don't let them loose, because there is one in every house! The dock is NOT a floating dock - be careful tieing up. You must launch at the marina in topsail beach - serveral miles south. But it was wonderful hopping in the boat anytime during the week for a cruise/fishing. Loved the decks on each side - if you want sun or shade. The view is fantastic with the kitchen & living area & master bed all on the third floor - however, NOT for anyone with issues climbing stairs. We felt very safe - police patrol AM and PM. Would definitely rent it again!

Great Topsail Island Vacation w/ boat & kids

Great Topsail Island Vacation w/ boat & kids
  • 5 of 5
We have been going to the Topsail area as well as Oak Island for over 10 years. We have typically rented a oceanfront home through a rental company. We decided this year to go VRBO and stay a few houses off the beach so we could save some money and bring the boat along with easy access. We were very happy.

We were very pleased with the house upon arrival. It was very clean and had no issues that needed to be dealt with. The house was well appointed with new style TVs and had plenty of room for everyone. The air conditioning was AWESOME and we had to bring it down a notch because it worked so well. The kitchen was well designed with plenty of space and the dining room fit a good number of people.

Each floor had its own deck which was very nice too. I had no complaints what so ever about this house or the owner. The owner was very easy to deal with and flexible to our needs.

Beach -
The beach was an easy walk, you just have to know you have to cross the dunes on a walkway which could affect how much fun it is carrying gear. It isn't bad but think it through before you bring the kitchen sink.

Kids / Shopping-
Downtown Topsail Beach has some cute stores (so my wife tells me) as well as a very cool Missle museum (free) and a not high tech, but fun mini-golf area. Surf City has more stores and a nicer mini-golf but they seemed very weather conscious in their opening. There is also a great dessert / ice cream shop in Surf City called Island Delight. It is a 50s based theme and they have apple pie too

Boaters -
I very much enjoyed having our boat at ready access. I would offer the following advice.
1. There is a public boat ramp called "Bush Marina" about 1 - 2 miles south of the house. It is basically self service / honor system payment. It is a good ramp so pony up the cash to keep it going.

2. The boat should be tied up outside of the deck / dock area, not infront of the dock. This will allow for other home owners to get their boat off their lifts.

3. If you aren't familiar with the area, watch the tides and learn the bouys or you will end up in trouble. The sound and Intracoastal are beautiful, but you can get burned if you get shallow.

4. If you need bait you can run down to the Topsail Pier about 1-2 miles south of the house or run 5 miles north to Surf City and go to East Coast Tackle. They are awesome and they have EVERYTHING.

5. Trailer parking could pose some issues at the house. Just think it through before you arrive.

Excellent beginning to summer

  • 5 of 5
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Green Heron. Easy beach access, boat dock, great views and decks everywhere, what else could you ask for in a vacation house? The house is very nice and well taken care of, the street is quiet, it is a great spot. The owner is very friendly and responsive to questions, can't say enough!
