Jim was raised not far from Pagosa Springs, in lovely Santa Fe, New Mexico, and hiked the Weminuche as a kid. His spouse is an East Coast transplant from Conn., who fell in love with Pagosa upon her first visit. Our home in the Pines of Pagosa is our dream-come-true-get-away from the bustle and noise of city life: where our children can watch Humming-birds feeding, the deer visiting in their own backyard or the occasional bear; it's where they can experience great fishing (our daughter holds a record of 16 fish at one sitting) not far from the house. In essence, a place where wonderful memories are being made to last a lifetime..............
Jim White purchased this house in 2008
We love the outdoors and Pagosa Springs has wonderful year-round adventure opportunities. Peace and quiet are often interrupted by the wind chimes hanging off the Ponderosas. Humming birds come to visit whenever we fill their feeders.....Occasional deer graze amongst the ponderosas (we have a salt-lick by the rocks) and the pure mountain air is a treat as one just relaxes in the rock-strewn yard (the kids were so excited to find some fossilized rocks in one of the boulders out the back!!), each visit brings new wonders!
Plentiful powder and first to open Colorado ski resort at Wolf Creek Ski area in the winter, feisty trout in the summer, hiking among the largest US Wilderness, some of Colorado's most beautiful fall colors, water falls and mountain scenery. Year-round soaking in Pagosa Hot Springs with full spa options for complete relaxation.
Thank you for allowing my family the use of your home. It was convenient to everything and the kitchen was great to cook in. Spring break in Pagosa is always a treat. The welcome treats were put to good use. Thanks again and God willing, we will return again.
My family and parents who came from Ohio went to Pagosa Springs for a relaxing vacation. The house rental was perfect for our needs, plenty of space, very organized with notes regarding the quirks of the house. They let us use the garage and had a garage opener there to use in our vehicle. The rental is right between the downtown area where the hot springs are located and the new developed area where the grocery store and many restaurants are located. It only took 5-8 minutes to drive to either part of town. Also there is great hiking and disc golf very closed to the rental property. The property is two levels and the living space is on the second floor which is not ideal for guest with trouble climbing stairs, but this did not effect us at all. Overall this was an easy great experience.
We stayed at the house for a ski trip to Wolf Creek over MLK weekend. Our family has two adults and two teenage boys, and we were looking for a house with a lot of space including a bedroom for each of our sons. Personally, I was looking for a house with nice decor in a quiet location.
This house fit us perfectly. It's very large, with a nice, large living room and kitchen, a king sized bed, and two bedrooms on the first floor that our kids could each stay in. One of the bedrooms also had a bunk bed, which would provide more room if needed. An added bonus was the heated garage, which allowed us to keep our rental car out of the cold during the wintertime. There was also plenty of space for us to keep our skis and other equipment in the garage.
When I first looked at the house, I was a little concerned about noise as there is an airstrip nearby. But, as Jim mentioned in conversations, the airstrip is not a problem at all - I have very sensitive hearing, and I didn't hear any noise from the airstrip (or really from anything else).
Overall, it was a wonderful stay in a great house in a wonderful city. We'd definitely stay here again next time we go skiing at the ski area or visit the area.
My husband and I were looking for a home to share with our best friends....this was the perfect home! We had been to Pagosa Springs before and rented a house, but this one was so much better for our group. The house was so clean and had everything we needed to make ourselves feel at home; dishwasher, washer and dryer, garage w/opener and split levels so that each couple had our own private space. We took full advantage of the hot springs and bought the week pass so that we could go as often as we wanted. The spectacular view from the front windows of the snowfall made for great pictures! The interaction with the owner was great and they made sure that we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back!
This was our best family vacation yet. The house had living spaces on each level so there was lots of personal space. Within 10 minutes of arriving our 2 year old and grandpa were on the upper deck watching deer just outside the backyard. They were both amazed. The backyard was huge and perfict for our dog and daughter to "go hiking". Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We made some wonderful memories!
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home. It was perfect for our family. Super clean and comfortable. The kids never got bored. We enjoyed drinking our tea on the decks and watching the deer visit the back yard. We can't wait to go back. It was truly paradise.
This well stocked and exceptionally clean home is a wonderful place to lodge while enjoying Pagosa Springs. We went on several hikes, fishing, boating, to the Springs and kept ourselves very busy. But some of our best time was just hanging out in the house and enjoying the decks, the yard, the swing. It was so relaxing. I will definitely be back.
