ROMANTIC 1930'S MOUNT HOOD CABIN WITH HOT TUB *FREE WIFI*

Rhododendron Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

The 'Bon Fir Cabin' is a beautifully restored 1930's cabin located in the foothills of Mount Hood. It is just 43 Miles from the Portland airport, less than a mile from the Mount Hood Wilderness Area, and a three minute walk from the Zig Zag River. The original native fir floors, cedar siding and vaulted ceiling throughout help it retain it's historic charm. The cabin is fully equipped with a modernized kitchen, cozy wood stove, a queen bed, and a four person hot tub. The Bon Fir sits on a large wooded lot with plenty of room to relax.

The cabin has only one bedroom with a queen bed. Also, the couch in the living room pulls out to a surprisingly comfortable queen hideabed. The bathroom has a full-size front loading washer and dryer, and an antique clawfoot tub with a shower. The four person jetted hot tub is built into the deck to soak your bones after a long day of fun.

I was born in Oregon and I like all kinds of outdoor activities. I hike, bike, surf, run, rock climb, ski, fish, raft, and camp. I write and play music. Nothing is better than great friends, great beer, and great food. I live in Portland, Oregon. Other than managing cabins, I work full time as an electrical engineer at Intel designing the worlds most advanced computer chips. I'm involved in several community gardens in NE Portland.

Martin purchased this cabin in 2008

I bought this cabin because I wanted a place close to Mount Hood and I love the outdoors. As soon as I walked inside I fell in love. The dark wood paneling and the vaulted cedar ceilings give the cabin a beautiful historic feel. The deck is huge and the hot tub is a great bonus.

I like to get a fire blazing in the wood stove and play games with friends. The tall trees and large lot give a sense of space that contrasts with my otherwise urban life. I like to play old records on the record player.

PERFECT CABIN

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I chose this cabin as our honeymoon destination, and we were not disappointed! Everything is as good as advertised. The interior is nice and homey, the hot tub was perfect after hikes (there are some fantastic ones in the area), and we loved having fires in the wood stove. The internet works, everything in the kitchen works, and the bed is one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We are excited to come back someday, and would recommend it to anyone!

QUIET, COMFORTABLE AND ACCESSIBLE

  • 5 of 5
Location is a quiet forest. You can hear the river. You cannot hear the highway ;)

A couple of houses close by, but didn't hear a peep.

We couldn't manage to get the wood burning stove going. I'm no boy scout, but I read the directions and tried both the teepee and build-a-house methods. Nada.

We didn't try any of the restaurants.

Bring your own coffee. There are two espresso spots up the road towards Timberline, but they're both awful.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY!

  • 5 of 5
Everything was perfect, just as described or better. The hot tub is fabulous. Truly enjoyed staying here! The whole place is really conveniently located as well, only about an hour from downtown Portland, and only minutes away from incredibly beautiful trails all up and down the mountain. The Ramona Falls trail is a fantastic one!

Thanks so much for a great honeymoon location!

PERFECT CABIN IN THE WOODS

  • 5 of 5
Bon Fir Cabin at the foot of Mt Hood is the quintessential cabin in the woods. If you are looking for a quaint mountain cabin experience, with all the amenities and comforts of home that doesn't smell musty and wet, look no further. With its roaring wood stove, and cozy four post bed, and charming claw foot tub it was the perfect getaway for a weekend in the woods. Nicely appointed with rustic cabin flare addedctovthe experience. Less than 20 minutes to sking, snowshoeing, and the village of Government Camp, Bonfir Cabin is a convenient home base for all your winter adventures. It is equally welcoming if you want to snuggle up by the fire with a good book or to listen to the endless collection of vinyl and board games. Also, one of the few homes in the area with a hot tub to soothe your tired legs from a day on the mountain. I have scoured the vacation rental sites and Internet searches, this is the the one.

BON FIR, ONE BEAUTIFUL, CHARMING RETREAT!

  • 5 of 5
What a gem of a cabin. The pictures and location were the selling point for us and we were not disappointed in any way. Martin has created a wonderful retreat for visitors, with all the amenities, including a hot tub for weary hiking muscle to recoup in. Great bed too. We absolutely loved our stay and would have liked at least one more night before heading to the Oregon's coast. Bon Fir's location is an ideal base for hiking, exploring around Mt Hood and the Columbia River area and there are numberous little restaurants to try, like the Zig Zag Inn, Skyway BBQ, Still Creek Inn. We would highly recommend Bon Fir to anyone looking for a romantic cabin in the woods. Thanks Martin.
