BEWARE!!!
Review Submitted: August 3, 2009
Date of Stay: July 2009
I booked this house for two weeks in July 2009, we ended up leaving after 5 days. Please beware this is a SHARED property on Rt. 28. (which I was not told prior to arrival) There are no sidewalks to walk to the beach. The outside shower is filthy and covered in mold. The is the bare minimum in the kitchen, the couch stinks and there is mold inside home. The beautiful white wicker patio set was replaced by an old rusted patio set. Homeowner refuses to reimburse us for the 2nd week, berated me on the phone and called me "deceptive". Please learn from our mistake. I would not recommend staying at this property, definitely not worth the money or heartache!
Owner's Response: First of all, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience this reviewer has experienced. Our goal has always been to go above and beyond to help our renters have a pleasant vacation experience. It is clearly stated on our website that this is a shared property by the owner/Caretaker only, no other units are available for rent. the property is only rented to Carriage House occupants, They have the run of the land. There’s lots of space and everyone seems to enjoy the large yard. The wicker furniture, as well as other patio furniture is in the yard and available for all renters to mix and match to required needs. It’s true, there are no sidewalks, but you’ll find that to be a mainstay in many Cape Cod areas, and the surrounding neighbors are very courteous of this when driving, as there is a lot of walking traffic. Our outside shower is your typical outside shower, perhaps some algae due to outdoor conditions i.e. if its been raining, but definitely not covered in mold. Our kitchen is well stocked with everything you could need for your vacation, silverware for more than 13 people, sturdy Calphalon pots and pans, lots of plateware, dry goods like popcorn, pancake mix, sugar, spices coffee…etc. The couches are new , very clean and thoroughly vacuumed above and under the cushions between each rental period. The mold issue is non-existent, as we never would have passed an inspection with it’s presence. We gave this reviewer every opportunity to present any dissatisfaction during their stay, as we were in touch quite frequently. In fact, there was a problem with a leaking pipe in the outdoor shower and we had a plumber arrive the very same day (a Sunday, during 4th of July weekend) to fix the problem. Following this issue, there were no other complaints presented. It came as quite a surprise when we learned that they had vacated the rental. It was a very rainy week, and this renter vacated the rental with no prior notice, requesting a refund, which violates the rental agreement. We take great pride in our rental and we will always do whatever is possible to make things right if a problem occurs. We have had many happy renters in our Carriage House over the years, and many repeat vacationers, we believe this is largely due to our attentiveness to their needs, as well as our availability to them. We hope to continue making our renters happy and once again, apologize for any unpleasant experience this reviewer may have had.
