Surrounded by 6 pristine National parks, and sitting at the confluence of two magnificent rivers, Kicking Horse Resort is the perfect summer or winter getaway.
In the winter, Kicking Horse resort is famous for its champagne powder, breathtaking alpine bowls, and all the steeps, chutes, cliffs and couloirs you can handle. Indeed, with the Purcell, Selkirk and Rocky mountain ranges all converging at Golden, it is no wonder many hardcore freeriders think the region is home to the best skiing in Canada! Heli- and cat-skiing options are plentiful and for those individuals who like to 'earn their turns', there are literally limitless possibilites. Local area guides are some of the best in the world, and touring trips can be crafted to meet any level of skier.
For the Nordic skier, there is an extensive network of trails in the area and a gorgeous lodge from which to set out on day trips.
Meanwhile, the backcountry surrounding Kicking Horse is a sledders (aka: snowmobilers) dream due to the beautiful scenery, diversity of terrain, amazing snow and convenient location. The town of Golden even got a nod from the Snoriders Choice Awards as one of the best places for powder and scenery in Canada!
In the summer, the resort offers incredible downhill and cross-country mountain biking, hiking, sight-seeing, golfing and more. Local suppliers will take you whitewater rafting, four-wheeling or fly-fishing on the Kicking Horse or Columbia River. The area is also well-known for paragliding.
If you simply want to relax and enjoy the scenery, you can wander through alpine meadows carpeted with wildflowers, or take advantage of the comfortable gondola ride to the top of Kicking Horse and discover Canada's most talked about culinary experience and the crown jewel of resort dining - Eagle Eye.
