The Shore View is a wonderful vintage cottage, overlooking a stunning panoramic view of the ocean passage between Lubec and Campobello Island. The water view is framed by nature reserve land and Quoddy Head State Park. Admire this fabulous view from the new deck (w/ gas grill, table, and chairs) while you enjoy a lobster feast. Or wake to the sun-kissed water as you great each day in the master bedroom! The cottage offers easy access to a long sandy beach, which is a staging ground for seasonal bird migrations. You can easily walk to shops, restaurants, a bank, grocery store, library, and playground. Tastefully renovated to retain period charm, the cottage provides a cozy retreat with modern convenience. The dining/living area provides comfortable chairs, fold-out futon sofa, cable TV/DVD/VCR, radio/tape player, high speed Internet and phone. The kitchen is fully equipped, including lobster pot! The half bath downstairs includes a washer and dryer. Full bath and 3 bedrooms upstairs.

Lubec is home to the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, situated at the easternmost point of land in the U.S. In Lubec you will find sandy beaches (a rarity this far Down East), bold coastal cliffs, coastal rain forest, wildflower meadows, and peat bogs. The Lubec area is host to three state parks, a national wildlife refuge, and several nature preserves, all of which offer a variety of well maintained hiking trails. Local whale, wildlife, and puffin tours offer the chance to observe nature up close from the water as do kayak and canoe rental facilities and many public boat ramps. The area is rich in history—the first naval battle of the Revolutionary War was fought in nearby Machiasport. Maine's own 'Cannery Row' lined the waterfronts of Lubec and Eastport with sardine canning factories and herring smoke houses. You'll find it all here—rich history, spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife, and friendly people. You won't find pollution, crowds, or traffic jams.

The kitchen is well equipped with ample cooking, serving, and dining utensils and yes, even a lobster pot! An automatic drip coffee pot and microwave add modern convenience. The first floor also features a half bath with washer and dryer and two spacious entry rooms. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and a full bath with tub and shower. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed with picture window with water view. The second bedroom has two twin beds that can be pushed together to create a king-sized bed. The third bedroom has two twin beds and a water view. Bed and bath linens are included.

The Shore View is an ideal location for parents with children. It boasts a large backyard that is ideal for children to play in, while parents sit on the new, 10X14 ft back deck and enjoy a stunning panoramic view of Lubec Channel. Nearby is a playground with extensive play equipment. Walk a short distance with the kids to a long, sandy beach, part of which is important seasonal migratory shorebird habitat, and look for shells and beach glass used in jewelry. Watch for seals and flocks of shorebirds. Stargazing is at its finest in this tiny coastal village and, on a clear night, you can enjoy a full view of the night sky from the Shore View's back deck!

Sept 08 The many personal touches to this cottage make it a very clean and comfortable "home base" to see Maine and Canada. The owners made wonderful choices in updateing the cottage. After spending the days outside or touring Canada we spent eveings on the deck watching the light change. Relaxing and quiet - just what we were looking for.
