Beaches:
The very best beaches on the island are only 8 - 15 minutes away. Famous Hapuna Beach, 'A' Bay, and the Mauna Kea Beach are only three. Snorkeling at Puako is fabulous as well as other nearby sites. All beaches are public in Hawaii so there are many from which to choose.
Shopping and Dining:
World class resorts are but a short drive away. International cuisine and designer shops are available. The Kings Shops offer a multitude of shopping opportunities from souvenirs to top of the line fashions to a variety of eateries. The new Queen's Marketplace has several dining establishments including Macaroni Grill. King and Queen's Day Spa/Salon features a full menu of services.
Exploring the Island:
There are a multitude of exploration possibilities on the island. Waipio Valley (1 hr drive) offers gorgeous views and opportunities to venture into the valley via horseback, wagon, or shuttle. The volcano is a 2 hour drive. Don't miss seeing lava entering the sea or hiking inside an ancient crater or lava tube!
Waimea, home to Parker Ranch and paniolos (cowboys) is a 15 minute drive. Visit the famous Parker Ranch homes as well as the museums. Enjoy first class restaurants such as Merryman's or Daniel Theibaut's.
Hilo, the county seat, is 1 1/2 hours away. While there visit the Hawaii National Tropical Botanical gardens for a glimpse of a jungle-like paradise!
Golf:
