Overview

Manzanita House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Aaaah, you have arrived at the beach. Everyone is delighted – this looks just like the Beach House of your dreams.

Walking up the groomed gravel path, through native Oregon plantings of sea grass, pine and Rhododendron, you turn the key and are wrapped in native carvings, wood and river rock, lit by the soft light of ocean mist gleaming from a wall of windows. Soon, a roaring fire bounces light off glowing fir. You turn and look out upon a mountain rising from the sea on the north end of a panoramic ocean beach.

Wrapped in tasteful luxury you feel incredibly relaxed, yet oddly energized in a balanced harmony. You’ve been told this custom home has been designed with the principles of Feng Shui (which literally means “wind water”) . . . where better but at a beautiful beach?

The spacious rooms are all open to each other, so you drift into the well-appointed kitchen and mentally plan the dinner you’ll fix tomorrow night. Perhaps Dungeness crab you’ll catch in Nehalem Bay, from the boat you rented at the marina. Or is it clamming season? Maybe both.

The farm table in the dining area seats eight, so on your return from that wonderful little restaurant you found on Laneda St., everyone joins in a raucous game found next to the river rock fireplace.

The kids go downstairs to watch a music video and you settle into a comfy club chair next to the fire and discover a book you’ve been meaning to read. After the fifth chapter you yawn, stretch contentedly and tuck yourself into lush linens, a soft bed and the music of the sea.

Next morning, contented and rested, you shower and sneak out the front door, walk the few minutes to the beach and head south to town and the Manzanita News. There you have a bracing espresso, treat yourself to a pastry and the New York Times. On the beach walk home you run into your companions, and you all plan to rendezvous back at the house for a hike up Neahkanie Mountain. You’ve heard the view is spectacular.

Some of the kids and their uncle opt to go to the park to play basketball and maybe an impromptu tennis tournament – you’re secretly glad when the younger ones go with to play on the swings and play structure. They are promised a sand castle and kites and say they’ll have pizza for lunch.

After the hike, you head for the Bay and actually catch dinner in your crab traps. The Marina cooks and cleans them. After a quick stop at the grocers, you head to the house, the triumphant hunter-gatherers. The kids have been bike riding and are flopped in the living room, watching a movie.

Dinner is quick and easy (and delicious). After the cleanup, the dishwasher loaded, dessert is served around the fireplace as everyone recounts the highlights of the day. The kids are pooped, happy, bathed and in bed early.

Sipping a nice glass of wine, you relax on the window seat and plan your next visit. What good fortune to discover such comfort and ease. Perhaps it is the Feng Shui. You set your book aside and try to count the colors in the sunset.

Manzanita get away

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful property! We loved storm watching and hearing the ocean crash on the beach all night. This was a little tight on parking as we had ladies gathering from the 4 winds, but for the most part we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay. Kitchen was well stocked, so each of us took turns preparing a meal. Everyone had a comfortable bed and the linens were well stocked and abundant.

Thank you again for sharing this wonderful home with us. Hope we can come again some day.

Perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

Because our group consisted of three individuals wanting their own bedrooms, this was the perfect choice. Every bedroom was its own master suite with a bathroom. The house is absolutely beautiful, had everything you would want for cooking, etc. and the beds were comfortable. Nice easy walk to the beach. We enjoyed using the outside fireplace under the stars while listening to the ocean. A lot of thought, love and care was put into the designing and furnishing of this house. Thank you for sharing your lovely home!

Simply a beautiful home with everything you could need provided in abundance. It felt very luxurious. A very short walk to the beach and many beautiful hiking trails nearby, along with the cute town of Manzanita. There was nothing that was advertised that was not as described. Could not have been happier. Felt comfortable and at home right away. We plan to make staying here a regular family event. Delightful!

Perfectly Perfect in Every Way

Thank You..Thank You...Thank You...for the most welcoming experience ever---- from our first email inquiry to Diane, who was quick to respond and so easy and nice to chat with, to locking the door as we left for home. Your hospitality was so generous and welcoming and the house was so amazing and special---beautifully designed, furnished, accessorized and all with impeccable craftsmanship and care. Five of us, plus a very happy pooch, enjoyed the comfy and artful living room, the best window seats ever, wonderful kitchen with huge table for gatherings, perfectly placed art and artifacts, THE VIEW, the ocean breeze from every window and door, the bedrooms each with the own baths, the thoughtful floorplan, the patios and walkways with beautifully manicured yard and native plants all around. The neighborhood was quite and friendly and the BEACH was AMAZING. Add to that unbelievable weather! We have had many wonderful vacation experiences and it will be impossible to top this one. Thanks for sharing such a special place.

Beach Babes

Gorgeous home and SO comfortable for a group of 7 to sit comfortable in the living room or better in the kitchen/dining room for chatting. Only one problem-the rug under the table had a bad habit of curling and several of us seemed to find the edges with our feet and stumble. No one actually fell but we just wondered how safe the rug was to guests. Maybe it just needs a way to tack the edges with tape or ? We had a wonderful time and would recommend this home as awesome for anyone wanting to visit Manzanita area.

Absolutely ideal vacation getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My family of four (daughters ages 3 and 6) recently met up with both sets of grandparents for a winter beach weekend and it was GLORIOUS! We all *loved* this charming, comfortable, warm and exceptionally well-designed house. We had fires in the fireplace, sipped wine and cocktails on the gorgeous stone terrace overlooking the ocean (a mere block away), cooked meals together and slept like logs in all three extremely comfy and spacious bedrooms. I had read many of the reviews when I was considering which house to book, and all of these reviews are right on - I now understand the hesitation to share how wonderful this house is for fear we'll have a hard time booking next visit! We're dreaming of coming again this summer, for a presumably slightly more crowded beach vacation. Manzanita and environs were so peacefully calm and relaxing in February.

My only oversight is that I'm highly allergic to dogs and cats, and somehow missed that pets are allowed here. Despite this, the house was clean enough (and it was VERY clean!) that I was fine. That's saying something!

The kitchen is extremely well stocked and we found everything we needed with ease. We made use of the laundry facilities (brand new and easy to use) as well.

Our family would HIGHLY recommend this beautiful home!
