Sunset Beach (one of the South Brunswick Islands) is a tiny three-mile-long sliver of pristine, unspoiled beach (the southernmost beach in NC). The southern end of the beach was recently bought by the state, and is a refuge called 'Bird Island'. There are even wild goats here!
The mainland community is equally beautiful and unspoiled. The pace is slow, but there's plenty to do. Shopping outlets, dozens of restaurants, and live-entertainment theaters (including The Alabama and Palace Theaters) are just minutes away on the Grand Strand. You can get to Sunset Beach via Interstate 95, Highway 17, and Interstate 40.
