This large, completely private, southern France-inspired home offers 2,800 square feet of living space. It's situated just a stone's throw from Zuma Beach.

Malibu Beach is decorated with French antiques, and offers charm throughout. It's U-shaped -- with high ceilings and glass bordering a lovely terra-cotta-style courtyard with a complete outdoor living room and fireplace. Situated on a cul-de-sac with no other homes on three sides, it provides an ideal and elegant retreat from which to explore southern California.

A private key provides access to the beach at the end of the cul-de- sac, to private tennis courts in the community,. and a private beach club with lifeguard, children's playground and private beach locker. The beach is ideal for surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, parasailing, or just relaxing. The home is near hiking and horseback riding and it's less than one hour from Hollywood, Ventura, Santa Monica (30 minutes), and most of LA's attractions.

The Neighborhood: Malibu West is a very quiet neighborhood built in the 6Os and now upgraded --- the best place in Malibu for family life and kids as they can ride bikes in the private streets and the Beach Club provides a focus of activity. October - Halloween it is alive with Goblins as everyone in Malibu brings kids here for trick or treat and the homes are transformed into spooky witch houses....

Big shady sycamore trees shade the neighborhood throughout, and the house is located on a private cul de sac across from an open field and then the beach is right across the highway. You can get there by a private keyed path that goes under the highway so no need to cross PCH. Also very few cars pass the house as it sits by itself at the end of the neighborhood.

Things to do..: *Beautiful Zuma Beach a block away- surfing, kite surfing, paddling and kayaking all available.

*Golf - a wonderful club open to the public 20 minutes away in the Santa Monica Mountains right behind the house.

*Hiking is incredible all around the house. Local maps provided.

* Day trips possible include: Santa Barbara ( I hour), Hollywood (45 minutes) , Santa Ynez Wine Country (1.5hours) , Disneyland (I.5 hours) , Universal Entertainment (I hour), Santa Monica ( 25 minutes) , Venice Beach ( 35 minutes) , Oxnard Outlet Malls ( 30 minutes)

Hi I am retired business professional and have two wonderful grown sons ( who teach surfing on occasion) . I have lived in Malibu for 30 years and know it well. I rent my home occasionally to travel the world. Renting on this website has introduced me to wonderful families looking for nice beach vacations and I enjoy sharing the beauty and comfort of my home. I live here in the winters and in Maine in the summers and ofter drive the USA to get to Maine or California. So far 16 times... the country is beautiful and varied and I highly recommend the drive someday!!

My dad was a commander in the Navy so we moved all the time so I grew up on both coasts moving every 2 years... hence the wanderlust I suppose. Carla

I bought my house for its proximity to walk to the beach (5 minutes) and because it was so privately located yet in one of the most 'family friendly' places in Malibu. Also I loved the indoor outdoor feeling of being in a glass house!

What makes this house unique

My favorite thing about my house is the indoor courtyard which the house circles. Every room looks out on it and it is completely private so I can leave all the windows and doors open and hear the fountain running and feel the air circulating.. Its like being outside all the time and flowers all year round are wonderful. It is truly a glass house with skylights and a sheer wall of glass on either side of the living area. And world class Zuma Beach is right out the door.

The house is uniquely located on a very quiet, shady, cul de sac in front of two open fields and sky. There is a private path to gorgeous Zuma Beach with a keyed gate directly to the left of the house. The home is completely private and and you can see no other homes from inside the house or across the street. The mountains raise behind the house and you see them from the yard. Unique, private, kid friendly location all on one floor with private beach access one short 5 minute walk through an underpass (beach-path). There is world class surfing, kayaking, parasailing, and swimming on Zuma Beach. There is hiking , horseback riding, and ' mountain meets ocean' scenic beauty everywhere. Additionally the famous celebrity Broad Beach lined with multimillion dollar homes is directly to the right of the home for movie sitings. It's a beach retreat to warm up in the hot tub after a hard day on Zuma and its also within a walk to shops and groceries.

Golf: There is a gorgeous public golf course in the mountains behind us- not crowded 15 minutes away.

Bathroom 2 is marble with a terra cotta floor and Mexican painted sink, rustic cabinetry. The shower is very large with a full glass front and is equipped with a steam unit. Bathroom 3 is part of the second 'Master suite' It has a shower , pedestal sink and toilet, and terra cotta floors.

Beautiful house and very accommodating owner!

We stayed at this place with my best friend who was visiting with her family from the Philippines. We fell in love with the place as soon as we got there. We were a group of 10, 8 adults and 2 kids but the place was still big for us. We had so much space! The owner Carla was very accommodating despite the fact that she was out of the country. She was very quick in replying via email and answered every single inquiry we had. my best friend who loves to cook enjoyed Carla's kitchen that was well equipped. We will definitely recommend this place for a family. Very near the shops and the beach. Thanks again Carla for having us. Our first Malibu experience was memorable!

Beautiful home, relaxing stay!

We stayed at Carla's house for the week of Christmas and had a wonderful time. There were seven adults (3 couples + grandma), and 2 little ones (2.5 and 7 months) and we had all the space we could ever need. We found there were more activities than we had time to do but we made sure to swim in the ocean, bathe in the hot tub, surf the waves, play tennis, hike, shop, and of course, enjoy long walks on the beach. We even had our fair share of celebrity sightings :) I would recommend this vacation to families wanting to spend quality time together in a beautiful location. Carla was especially gracious and maintained great communication with us before, during and after the stay. Next stop: Malibu in the summer! Thanks for everything, Carla.

EXCELLENT IN EVERY WAY

We stayed at Carla's house this August. 6 adults and 3 kids. It was great!
House is very convenient, has everything you can imagine and more. A lot of attention to detail, we had fun just staying in the house (originally we planned to do a lot of sightseeing:). 10 min walk to beach, located next to Zuma. In the morning, you can see dolphins almost every day. Super friendly people, made few friends. Carla very responsive to everything you need. We will come back!

Very cosy beach house, great beach access

We had a great time in Malibu. We are a family with 4 children aged 18, 16, 10 and 3. Everyone liked the house a lot. It is very comfortable, bright, cosy, well-decorated and has a lovely garden. The beach club (5 min walk) is a real plus with great access to the beach, children playground, lockers and showers. The kids liked to jump in the hot spa in the garden after the beach. The tennis courts are well maintained. We had a great contact with the owner, Carla, who was very accessible and helpful. We would love to go back!

Glorious Gardens and A Beautiful Beach

Our large family (we have four young children) recently stayed at this Malibu Beach home for one wonderful week! This house was the perfect place for us to enjoy and use as our base as we explored Malibu and LA. The house has many windows, making the home bright and cheery, and providing a view of the glorious gardens and fountains in the enclosed back yard and in the front courtyard. We felt it was an ideal house for a family to rent. First, one of the bedrooms has a really cool bunk bed/loft type set up that our 11 year-old loved! Second, the backyard has beautiful plants and trees (even a lemon tree) and is a fun, peaceful place to hang out (there is even a hot tub). Also, the private beach club that the rental allows you to use has a nice private beach, a great little playground structure, as well as a beach house where you can shower off or use the restroom. Finally, the kitchen/dining room has a long table that can accommodate many people. All in all, we could not have asked for a better place to spend our week in California! We are enjoying the happy memories.
