Cobscook View -- QUITE the view!

Cobscook View is all about The Views. The waterfully-beautiful little town of Lubec begins Morning before any other place in the country, and from this house you can savor the ever-changing views of sea and sky from the time you open your eyes in the the morning until you close them at night (especially if you have the master bedroom !! )
The house is oriented toward the water: large windows and
a huge deck let you enjoy every change of weather and tide. Sunrises are gentle, sunsets spectacular, with the
best colors coming after the sun is already down. And you'll see it all, if this house is your vacation home.
The owners were easy to work with and have property managers who live right next door, in case there are emergencies or questions. House was very clean (thank you !) and comfortable. The one thing prospective renters should know is that all the bedrooms involve some type of climbing -- either stairs to the 3 bedrooms on the second floor, or a ladder to the loft sleeping area above the family room. No bedrooms on the main floor. Nice laundry, great showers! (At least, mine on the second floor was great -- I didn't use the one on the main floor.)
Lubec is a wonderful little town to walk...sea air, a few hills for cardio workouts, interesting houses and friendly people. You'll have a range of dining choices -- casual or upscale. We tried almost everything, and found there
really are more dining options in Lubec than appear at first glance.
If you need a lawn for kids to play, this is not a house for you.
There's plenty of sightseeing, most of it focused on the
great natural beauty of the area. The owners provide a notebook full of suggested activities. If you're there in the summer, don't miss a Summer Keys concert. Check the bulletin boards for local events -- often much more fun than
typical "tourist" activities.
Take your passport. Living within sight of that bridge to Campobello every day, you'll wish you had it along.
Although Lubec seems out-of-the-way, you'll find most of
life's necessities: grocery store, bank, post office, gas,
library with Internet access, church choices.
If you want shopping and "attractions", wait to go until June -- in May, many things we wanted to do were not yet available.
By far the best reason to go to Lubec is the natural beauty of the peninsula, the sea, and the islands. It's a place for
relaxation and rejuvenation. No traffic tie-ups. No crowds!
