Pearadise is perfect for all seasons. Summer is warm, ideal for shorts or swimsuit all day, with plenty of time for romantic evenings at the many local restaurants and entertainment venues.

During the fall, winter and spring, you’ll enjoy fishing, watching birds and river life, and taking hikes or biking in nearby Armstrong Woods, and wine tasting.

Pearadise is located 1/2 mile from downtown Guerneville in the Russian River Resort area. It is a short drive (2 minutes) to Korbel champagne cellars and many Russian River Valley wineries in the dry creek area (20 minutes). We have ample off-street parking for four cars.

Why The Owner chose Guerneville

Our families have been vacationing at 'The River' since Penny's grandfather rode the train from San Francisco to his 'cabin in the redwoods' in the late 1800's. Over the past 100+ years, 5 generations of our families have spent their vacations and holiday weekends here!

In 2007, Penny & Mike purchased and remodeled 'Pearadise' to provide the most comfortable and fun year round vacation retreat for our expanding family.

We use the income from VRBO (since January 2009) to maintain and improve the property. Our latest project was to build in a fireplace and mantel (to restore the one that was removed when the house was raised by the previous owners) and replace the carpet with a 'green' product (made from recycled plastic pop bottles.) Our goal is to provide a clean, green, bright, comfortable and 'turn key' vacation home for our family and yours.

What makes this house unique

We love being ON the river: water sports (swimming, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, etc.), visiting friends on the river, exploring, fishing, and observing (people during the warm Summer and spectacular nature during the pleasant Spring and Fall and even in the chilly Winter!)

We also enjoy BBQing and entertaining on our spectacular deck, cooking in the great kitchen and bar areas, gaming and movies in the downstairs 'game room' and having lots of room for folks to 'do their own thing' too.

Local activities that we like to do include: hiking and biking (especially in Armstrong Woods and around Austin Creek), eating in the many good local restaurants, wine tasting treks, driving out to the ocean (Jenner is only 10 miles away), shopping in the funky town of Guerneville, movies at the Rio Theater, Pee Wee golf and many annual events and festivals (Jazz & Blues festivals, Civil War Days, Stumptown Parade, July 4th fireworks, Bohemian Show, Sonoma County Fair, Apple Fair, Vine Man triathlons, RR rodeo, and Wine Road activities to name just a few.)

Guestbook comments from the owner

Penny -- We just arrived home in Santa Barbara and wanted to tell you that we had such a lovely time at the Pearadise! Mom and I had the pleasure of opening and closing the house, and we got to see everyone (since the family schedules didn't all exactly coincide). The house was perfect. We LOVED the kitchen (which was amazingly stocked with appliances and dishes and cookware) and deck especially, and spent lots of time down on the dock. The last two days were really lovely weather-wise, and so we put on the ceiling fans. Thanks so much for a terrific house for our family reunion. Best, Kris and Rosemarie

30th Birthday Weekend

  • 4 of 5

We rented this house to celebrate my boyfriends 30th birthday with several other couples. The house was beautiful, excellent location right on the river, full of amenities, clean and very comfortable. The owners were extremely helpful, providing tons of information before our arrival. They were also very accommodating and patient as there was a mix-up on my part with payment.

The only reason I am not giving it 5-stars is due to the fact that although it sleeps 12, it is not a good place for a large group because of the attitude of the neighbors. We were warned prior to our visit to be respectful or the quiet hours (which we were very much so) but wanted to enjoy the outdoors during the day. We were a moderately sized group, playing games on the back patio between the hours of 12-4 and we were told to be quiet. I have no idea how any type of group (families, friends or otherwise) can enjoy recreation time outside if the expectation is for there to be no noise. A group should feel comfortable to relax during the middle of the day. I do not recommend this place for large groups or families with children who will spend the day playing outside. I also feel because we were a younger group, she was extra sensitive and on her guard.

If you are an older group looking for peace and lots of lots of quiet, it's perfect.

Wonderful Stay and Exceptional Hosts

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 10 stayed at Pearadise for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. Penny and Mike were very accomodating with our requests. The house is impeccably clean and very spacious. The Hot Tub was a highlight as well as the River in the backyard! Great location near the supermarket, restaurants, and Stumptown Brewery. Highly Recommend staying at Pearadise.

Perfect group vacation spot on the river

  • 5 of 5

Pearadise was a wonderful place to stay and our whole group had a fantastic time. Its location on the river just can't be beat! We were glad to have some shade on the dock and it was really nice to have a kayak and canoe available. The number and quality of inflatable devices for lounging on the river were amazing.

We had 4 couples and 4 kids with us, and were a little worried that it might be cramped. This was not the case at all. The layout of the house afforded a nice separation of space for groups, so we could retreat for some privacy and reconvene as a group at our leisure. The upstairs-downstairs living spaces really helped to provide a sense of privacy.

The fact that it is walking distance to downtown was a huge plus. We walked down to see the fireworks for the 4th of July, to have a great lunch at Boone, and just to shop and get some exercise. We also got to do some great wine tasting!

The house is a two story and like all the houses on the river there are a lot of stairs. It might be a difficult place for people who have trouble with that.

Overall great house, great location, and very nice owners! I would definitely stay there again.

Quiet and Peaceful

  • 4 of 5

I reserved Pearadise for a women's weekend trip. We ladies all play on a recreational sports team together and try to plan a fun getaway each summer for team bonding time. Pearadise was far outside our price range, but with our team savings from fundraisers, we made it work.

Pearadise is HUGE and we all fit comfortably in the bedrooms and on futons/couches. The kitchen was great to work in, as a few of us are chefs, and there was plenty of space on the top deck to have a family style dinner with all of us around the big table with benches. There's an additional fridge downstairs in the "game room" however I don't think it works, nothing we put in there got cold, though I recall the freezer portion might have been working. Great idea to have extra fridge space, but it'll need a tune up to be useful.

Walking down to the river is quick, but filled with flights of stairs. Even in good physical condition I didn't want to make the trek more than I needed to and was a little winded once back up to the top floor of the house. There were inflatables provided in the garage and we all had fun hanging out in the river under the hot sun. Since the world cup was going on, we also took time to watch the game on the big screen down stairs. Pearadise offers options for entertainment, activities and relaxation.

One dilemma we encountered our first night is that there are neighbors on either side, and the buildings are set quite close to each other. In addition, with the river and open space out back, sound travels far too well. Our neighbors to the left were up late with lots of music, and we ended up getting a knock on OUR door from the neighbors to our right, thinking the noise was from us. I would not recommend Pearadise for those who want to be up and about past 10pm, when quiet hours are quite enforced.

Overall, it was a lovely place to stay. We all had a good time. I would recommend this location for families with kids, when bedtime enforcement will likely align well with quiet hours.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the great review and for letting us know that the downstairs refrigerator isn't chilling as well as it should - we are having it serviced now, so it should be in good working order for your next visit. We're so glad that the noisy party at the vacation rental on the other side, did not overly impact your quiet weekend. (We have requested that our other neighbor lodge her complaint with the company that manages that house.) Hope to see your group again soon! Penny & Mike

River Fun with Family

  • 4 of 5

This property was both kid and pet friendly, accommodating a large family intent on fun. The river was out the back steps and refreshing every day! We chose this property for its proximity to the water and Sonoma Canopy Tours for zip lining.

Fabulous Holiday Gift: A Weekend on the Russian River

  • 4 of 5

My family of 10 had a wonderful weekend in Pearadise. The house has spacious rooms, a well-stocked kitchen, and very enjoyable places to sit back and relax with large and small groups of people. It’s also convenient to downtown Guerneville and steps away from the Russian River. And even if we couldn’t use the kayaks, canoes, and bbq during this December visit, we had a lot of fun shopping and dining in Healdsburg, touring wineries, walking in the redwoods, and driving out to the beach on a sunny day in Jenner. I must say, though, the house is definitely made for summer. There is no central heat on the first floor, only portable heaters, and it went into the 20s at night. We also had some hot water issues in one of the showers upstairs. We managed and still had a lovely time.
