TAMARACK LAKE ESTATE is really more like a resort than a house, you get so much provided for your vacation. Most people come to Cape Cod to gaze at the ocean. But what if you could be at the ocean beach for hours on end, and two minutes later go home to a luxurious lakefront estate a few blocks away? Imagine the enjoyment of having the best of both worlds -- the sandy beaches of Cape Cod Bay and the sparkling clear waters of a spring-fed 376-acre glacial 'pond.' (One guest described it as a Lake Tahoe/Cape Cod vacation.) In this amazing spot, you'll have privacy, recreation, and comfort in a setting graced with sparkling waters, towering pines, brick paths and patios, decks, private sandy beach, dock, and boathouse -- even before you encounter the incomparable home itself.
The home is VERY well provisioned, with nice linens, top of the line appliances , cookware, spices, condiments, baking needs, soaps, paper goods, laundry supplies, Tamarack has wireless Internet, digital cable TV, an extra wet-bar kitchen to serve the Great Room, kayaks, canoe, swim platform, dock, boathouse with bunk beds, water toys, life jackets, – private waterfront beach and fire pit, Great Room patio also has a fire pit, there is a barbeque patio, picnic area.
BEDROOMS AND SLEEPING SPACES
-waterfront KING bdrm (made of 2 singles)
-waterfront QUEEN bdrm with luxury bathroom
-waterfront 2 FULL beds bdrm
-parkside small bdrm with KING bed (made up of 2 singles) (check back with us on this)
-main floor bdrm QUEEN bedroom
- Great Room loft with SINGLE bed /could have 3-4 sleeping bags on padded, carpeted floor
- Not 'civilized' bedroom space, but bunks in boathouse at water's edge (made up by special arrangement, no plumbing at water's edge)
Tamarack has a beautiful gathering room, tastefully decorated in restrained Nantucket style, a place to converse or watch TV. From here, enter the sleek mini-kitchen outside the Great Room. The Great Room, added to the house in the '90s, has a 22-foot stone fireplace, sit-upon hearth, plank floors, soaring ceilings and a expansive glazed-brick veranda where Adirondack chairs line up to take in the water view. This magnificent room is divided into areas: a banquet table, a writing area, two sitting areas with off-white couches, a British West Indies armoire housing the TV, and 1830s mahogany horseshoe counter for laying out a buffet, or locating your laptops *WiFi throughout.
You may feel inspired to write your memoirs here under the watchful eye of the Sable Antelope on the fireplace. Ship stairs lead to a carpeted loft overlooking the gigantic room. A wall of sliders open to the large brick patio, offering a flow and ease of indoor-outdoor living, with mature estate plantings and towering pines.
The fantastic main kitchen has a vaulted beamed ceiling with six skylights and excellent task lighting for cooking. Wood floors, mahogany countertops, and top quality appliances make this two-sink, two-dishwasher, three-oven, bountifully-stocked and meticulous kitchen a place to spend all your time. The chefs will appreciate our Thermador ProHarmony gourmet gas range with Faber pro hood, Miele MasterChef double convection oven, Sub Zero glass door refrigerator. Miele and Bosch dishwashers make cleaning-up painless. You may want to spend your entire time in the kitchen. Step out the French doors into the sunny courtyard to snip some herbs or turn right to go to the brick barbeque patio with its Weber gas grill and stress-removing lake view.
The bedrooms are pleasant and thoughtfully decorated. They are appointed as follows: (upstairs) master suite = lake view, queen bed and luxurious bathroom. Middle bedroom = lake view, 2 full-sized beds with antique cannonball headboards. 3rd bedroom= lake view, 4 twin beds (think cousins spending the summer together). 4th bedroom=courtyard side, two single beds. Main floor bedroom (just off the Gathering Room and mini-kitchen/wet bar) queen bed and adjacent bathroom (grab bar installed in tub wall.)
Tamarack has a private boat dock with jet ski ramp, a sandy beach, a boathouse with a bunk bed and all-glass boathouse doors, with the lake lapping at the edge of the boathouse -- an exciting location in itself. Kayaks, a canoe, floats, and water toys are supplied.
For those considering accessibility in case a dear one isn't as mobile as in the past, most of the home's features are at-grade. The slope down to the water is an easy stroll and there is a secondary driveway down by the dock that enables access by car.
The circular driveway allows multiple vehicles to navigate through the park-like setting, and there is space for an event tent and caterers' vans. (On a case-by-case basis, we will consider very small weddings, most neighbors aren't keen on weddings.)
Personal checks for rental fees, credit card used for damage deposit. Cards or PayPal may be used with w rental rate adjustment.

To me, creating the perfect waterfront getaway home is an art form. My lifelong career had been in designing publications, and later creating magazine illustrations and painting expressionistic works on canvas. When I first decided to rent my weekend home so I could renovate an incredible but dilapidated cottage (which became, at great expense, 'Timberframe Cottage') I did not know this would become my work and my passion. Working in 2d was fun and rewarding, but my new ART is creating vacation homes that themselves are 'works of art.' My goal with my homes, as with my art before, is to create a setting that exceeds your expectations, and in turn, your patronage lets me continue my art form a few more years. Please read the guest comments to see the generous and enthusiastic compliments we've received. Finding just the right furnishings, using classic Nantucket decor, using materials such as massive beams, barnwood ceilings, wide pine floors, RL sheets, antique cabinets, and creating gardens overflowing with roses and peonies, clematis, daylilies, gigantic buried stepping stones, blueberries, raspberries, foxgloves (can you tell it is June as I write this?) expanses of mahogany countertop, fine appliances, stone fireplaces, stained glass, with views that will take your breath away. Please look at 'all my rental listings' to see my portfolio art in the form of unique and extravagant vacation getaways. It is a labor of love... for you.
We never considered Tamarack Lake Estate as a vacation home when we purchased it. The then-current owners had a special needs child for whom they needed to build a custom-designed home for his future, and they asked us if we would consider buying Tamarack. The house needed a lot of work, but the grounds were spectacular. The mature conifer gardens, the park-like setting, acres of lawn and trees, incredible views and sparkling sunsets over the 'pond.' It took us three years of living in Tamarack Lake Estate to figure out how to fix what needed fixing, and making sense of its rambling and disjointed floor plan. Alas, we had to live through the construction, which is never fun. But now, all its original positive qualities shine, and what wasn't quite right has been resolved. It is a really incredible home (now) and we are awed by the beauty and tranquility of the place.
The kitchen is a destination in itself. But then there is the great room, as big as some folks' homes. But then, there is the private beach, the boathouse, the dock with jet-ski ramp, a swim platform in the lake, the glazed brick great room patio with its row of adirondaks lined up to take in the view. It is like getting an entire resort at the price of a summer home.
(from a text message at the end of her stay) "Hi Robin, Your estate is amazing. I don't want to leave. It will b hard to go tomorrow. Thank U" Lori
We were a group of adults over 50, no kids with us and we love to vacation together. We're all home owners with lovely houses of our own; so our standards are high. This house made EVERYONE happy. Couldn't ask for a more gorgeous place. ZERO complaints. We all loved being together preparing great dinners and this kitchen was fantastic. Every appliance. Double dishwashers and ovens. All high end. What a great house for entertaining with the fully equipped wet bar. Large dining table in the Great room. SO much space.
Lots of comfortable beds. Lots of space. Great house for sharing with your friends,
The water front is amazing. The clean water, all of the amenities, the campfire, kayaks. Just everything you want.
The public beach 5 minutes away is also beautiful and clean. You can walk the beach for miles.
You will love this home. Look no further and rent this one. A GEM.
this is a lovely, exceptionally well maintained property. the house is spacious, comfortable, and furnished with taste. it was able to accommodate our party of 10 -- comprising 2 families, with ages spanning the range 8 to 88 -- with ease. the lakeside property is large, quiet, pleasantly landscaped, and affords privacy.
in our week at the house, we never felt cramped, uncomfortable, or at a loss for something to do. the children and younger adults spent uncounted hours near, in and on the water. both young and old enjoyed reading, talking, and relaxing in the house or on the large terrace overlooking the lake.
the private beach is sandy, the water is clean and clear. there is a raft about 30 yards from shore. the boathouse shelters 4 kayaks, a canoe, and a sunfish, all in good working order, and all of which we used frequently.
the kitchen merits special mention. it is is flooded with light from windows on all 4 sides, has high ceilings, and is equipped with modern, high-end appliances. it was a pleasure preparing meals there. we were never at a loss for utensils or equipment, simple or otherwise.
We attended a wedding in Peggotty Beach and stayed in Robin's fabulous home. Even better than the pictures! This house was so well appointed it was beyond belief!!! High end appliances comfortable beds, beautifully decorated. We enjoyed coming "home" to our little paradise every evening and only wished that we would have had more time there! Robin is very accommodating and has impeccable taste!! We look forward to coming again. Thanks again Robin for the memorable stay!
We stayed at this beautiful home for our family reunion this summer and it couldn't have been a better choice. From the minute you arrive, the house and property welcome you to relax and unwind. The view is amazing. The house is immaculate, incredibly well maintained and stocked with everything you might need. Plenty of beach towels, beach chairs, 3 kayaks and a canoe; several firepits (nothing like smores for dessert); wonderful lake views from the deck as well as some of the bedrooms. The kitchen has everything you could want to whip up great meals; even the 2 dishwashers came in handy. There is also a Weber gas grill available for guests.
Even with houses nearby, there is great privacy. You have a private lakefront beach and the water is clean and refreshing. The lake is quite large and gave everyone quite a good workout during our frequent kayak trips. There is also a beautiful bike trail close by that runs along side the Cape Cod Canal (you would want to drive to it). Even though you're not quite on the Cape, Sandwich is just over the bridge with lots to do and as long as you avoid the weekends, bridge traffic was not bad. We had wonderful meals at the Daniel Webster Inn and the Sagamore Inn Restaurant. Golf is not far away, either. But most of the week, we just relaxed at the house and enjoyed all it had to offer.
When indoors, there are 2 nice areas to congregate in. There is a comfortable brightly lit living area right next to the kitchen. When it rained, this is where we relaxed with comfortable seats for reading and a nice table next to the french doors for the poor individuals who actually had to do some work. Each night, we would congregate in the great room. This is a more formal room with darker woods and tones. Plenty of seating around the TV and a big table for board games. Also, a wonderful game area with a semi-circular bar where those interested in playing poker and blackjack could hang out. Something for everyone, including a loft sleeping area where my teenage son hunkered down for the week in his "man cave".
Robin, the owner, was very helpful and receptive. One night, a sudden storm took the patio umbrella out of its stand and broke one of the spokes. I called her in the morning and by afternoon, we had a replacement. She has wonderful staff caring for the property and truly cares that her guests have a wonderful time. We would without a doubt come back to this beautiful house. It was a wonderful, memorable family vacation.
Tamarack Lake Estate is a magical spot. Everyone of our big group of family and friends (all ages) felt completely at home, yet completely transported to a very special resort. The owners have thought of everything, and attend immediately to any request. We first visited two years ago and were thrilled with our "find". This year, Tamarack was even better, though I wouldn't have thought that possible. We hope to return every year; Tamarack has a very special place in our hearts.
Our family has taken group vacations for the past 30 years with various age group members we have experienced cruises, house rentals, camping, and time share units. This past year we ranged from 4 to 69 years old and every single one of us considered this to be the ultimate vacation experience. The home was more than we had ever dreamed it could be, from size, comfort, serving pieces, gourmet kitchen, the ideal setting to the gracious hosts--you can not find better. You would be hard pressed to find an equal for all of the positive things found at this site.
Every age group found relaxation and/or things to do as they saw fit. The lake provided ample experiences for grandson fishing, granddaughters swimming, kayaking for all, canoe trips for grammy and pop-pop;quiet places to read for all. In addition the golfing and sightseeing was spectacular. Whale watching provided one less item for the "bucket list" as no less than 15 different humpback whales were spotted less than 20 feet from the ship.
The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome and appreciated as guests. Following our visit we inquired about some ceramic pieces that we saw at the house and would like to get for our home. Robin not only provided the information about them but offered to purchase and send them to us as a thank you for the stay. They did everything possible to make our stay a lifelong positive memory. I would wholeheartedly recommend Tamarack Estate as the ultimate vacation experience.
The location is ideal. Situated at the top of Cape Cod, just north of Sandwich before you cross the Cape Cod canal, you have the advantage of staying out of the traffic backups, and being on vacation while others are parked on the highway. Sandwich is 2 miles to the south, and Plymouth is 15 miles to the north. Plymouth Rock, the Mayflower, and the incredible Plymouth Plantation (which is like a trip in a time machine) are appealing destinations. Charming Sandwich is also two miles away and has a Glass Museum and Heritage Plantation and a fine antiques auction on alternate Saturdays. The area has many fine golf courses, antique shops, and historic homes -- some of which date to the 1600s. The Cape Cod Canal offers great biking paths. A 30 minute drive away are the ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, and 50 minutes to the mansions of Newport.
Other Activities: Cape Cod Bike Path is very close, and FUN! Golf galore.
Golf: (Actually, while there are great golf courses nearby -- at Pinehills, White Cliffs, and throughout the Plymouth and Cape Cod areas, we thought we should give you more details on the house. We can provide more information for golfers should they inquire:) The master bedroom has a lake view, a queen-sized bed, a graceful soaking tub, tile shower, and wood-counter vanity with vessel sink and Grohe faucet. The middle bedroom has lake view, 2 full-sized beds with antique cannonball headboards. The 3rd bedroom has a lake view, 4 twin beds. The 4th bedroom is courtyard side and features two single beds. The main floor bedroom (just off the Gathering Room and mini-kitchen/wet bar) has a queen bed and adjacent bathroom (grab bar installed in tub wall) and is perfect if you have an older family member in your vacation party. And there is more. Tamarack has a private boat dock with jet ski ramp, a sandy beach, a boathouse with a bunk-bed and all-glass boathouse doors, with the lake lapping at the edge of the boathouse -- a breezy shady place to sit a spell. Plus, for those considering accessibility, most of the home's features are at-grade. The slope down to the water is an easy stroll, and there is a secondary driveway down by the dock that enables access by car should there be a special family member with particular needs.
The circular driveway allows multiple vehicles to navigate through the park-like setting.
Ski: Please see our other listings if Tamarack is already taken. It would be our honor and pleasure to welcome you and your family for a vacation or event that is beyond your expectations.
