East Sandwich is the oldest town on Cape Cod and features beautiful sandy beaches like East Sandwich beach, a historic wooden walking bridge connecting downtown to Town Neck Beach, a plethora of antique shops and great restaurants (check out the Dunbar Tea House recently featured in USA Today, Dec 07) along scenic rt 6A, great golf, sailing and fishing. The inlets that flow to and from the ocean provide great swimming for little ones, terrific kayaking and even better fishing.
Sandwich is the ultimate family vacation spot, given the mix of activities for young (mini golf, movie theaters) and old, as the ocean is especially calm given the location of its beaches on the inside of Cape Cod's 'elbow'. There is also great history to be uncovered at the Cape Cod Canal Maritime Museum, located at the entrance of the canal in the Town Neck neighborhood of Sandwich. And I challenge anyone to locate a better lobster roll than those served at Seafood Sams, next to the Canal Museum in Town Nec
