Nine goats and two alpacas in the pasture will entertain you from the large sun-drenched windows. Can you identify the native birds from the busy feeders? Pick a bouquet of flowers or herbs from the garden for your dinner table. Lounge on the deck to read a book and admire the views. Enjoy a relaxing country walk.
A large tree house and swinging bridge offer an unusual adventure for children and adults. What a great location from which to sip your morning coffee or afternoon wine! You have full access to all the gardens, porches, orchards and views around the apartment and main house. A new large swing set has been popular!
Your hosts, Sally and Ron, are a friendly, well-traveled couple who hope you will feel right at home. (They also respect your privacy.) Check out our reviews! We have many return guests.
The McMinnville area is an hour away from the pleasures of Portland and the thrill of the Pacific Ocean. Hiking, fishing, and wading in the nearby Nestucca River is a pleasure on hot summer days.
Just a 8-10 minute drive to McMinnville's popular Third Street, Thursday Farmer's Market (summer), and Saturday Public Market (all year). McMinnville is home to Linfield College, Evergreen Aviation Museum with IMAX theater and water-park, and excellent restaurants, wine bars, community theater, and boutique & antique shops in the historic old town.
More than a hundred vineyards and wineries surround the region. Check out the new wine scene in nearby Carlton. Also nearby is the Lafayette Antique Mall. You will delight in the local festivals in the surrounding communities throughout the summer.
Keywords: Large, bright, independent apartment attached to owner's country home.
Your hosts are Ron and Sally. We've raised our three children here since 1988, and they're now all young adults.
We're not yet retired, but able to do some of our work from home. We're friendly, casual introverts. It has been great to meet a wonderful variety of people from all over the country.
Sally is a native Oregonian. She lived in Portland during her young adulthood, and hoped to raise the children in a more rural area.
McMinnville, 33,000 po., has been perfect. And the countryside is just plain gorgeous!
One of our friends dubbed our place Low Heaven Farm. It stuck -- and we have to agree that it IS 'heaven on earth.'
We love our country living, while still being close to town. Sally continues to expand the orchard -- it now has 34 varieties of apples, 8 plums, 5 pears, 4 cherries. Ron relishes his time on the tractor, and he just added 24 solar panels so the apartment's electricity needs are now supplied by solar energy.
Thanks for another great stay! Enjoyed the garden and tree house. We didn't bring the sun with us this trip, but enjoyed the sun breaks. Will re-schedule our cancelled fishing trip and return to your paradise soon.
Sally and Ron offer the gold standard for VRBO. The pictures of the apartment are lovely, but it is so much more than that. The grounds are lush, private, and bucolic. The apartment itself is even better than the pictures and more private than I could have imagined. Sally provides an embarrassment of riches for your breakfast as well as a bottle of wine and a smile. I am only sorry that we were there when the weather was a bit chilly to fully enjoy the grounds. We will definitely return to enjoy the deck and the treehouse in warmer weather.
If you are in the area to explore the Willamette Valley wine country, I cannot imagine an easier or better location, with some of the best wineries in the region within minutes. Oh! And the windows, the laundry, the rocking chair… I almost hate to let the secret out!
We are locals and stayed in this great apartment while our house was being worked on. The owners were very gracious and we're even willing to introduce our 4 year old to their goats! He also loved the tree house. Very spacious, comfy bed, great kitchen and laundry - (Very important to us! ). Beautiful location. Thanks for the great stay and we will definitely recommend.
My son and I came for our second visit and it was even better than the first time. Sally and Ron are fantastic hosts! The cottage is a nice size with picturesque views, beautiful landscape and the awesome treehouse. The goats are friendly too. This place is slightly "off the beaten path", but close enough to enjoy the area.
If you're thinking of coming to the area, stay here!!
We stayed at the McMinnville apt for one week. It was a wonderful home base for exploring the valley, coast and Portland. We enjoyed the wine, great food, the landscape and good weather.
The apt had everything you could need. A great kitchen, deck, and large bedroom.
Sally and Ron were great hosts.
My wife and I stayed here in late August. What more can I say about this place that the other reviews haven't? The pictures makes it look very nice, but in person it is even nicer and more spacious. They have a guide book with all the info about the area you could ever need. They even asked us for breakfast food wishes and had everything we asked for and more when we arrived! The grounds are very nice, including the tree house and the goats/llamas which are awesome! Maybe a 5 minute drive to downtown, which had several nice restaurants and shops. My only regret was that we were only there for 2 nights. If/when we make it back, we will definitely stay longer.
This is everything one could hope with Large pictures sun-soaking the beautifully appointed condo. A 3 story adult tree house with suspension bridge and numerous patios beacon. As I write the goats are happily bleeting from the backyard. Sally and Ron are wonderful hosts.
One hour drive to gorgeous beaches on the Pacific Ocean. Hike along the Nestucca River or try your luck at fishing. Haag Lake is nearby for swimming, boating, fishing. Wine-tasting and lovely countryside with more than a hundred nearby local wineries in Yamhill and Willamette Valley wine country! Evergreen Aviation Museum and Water-park. Portland activities are just an hour away, too.
