Are you looking for a relaxing and fun place to spend time this summer? Our property - 'Shoreholm' -has the comforts of home in one of the most beautiful ocean towns on the East Coast. Shoreholm is spacious, comfortable, has a 1-acre private yard with a porch swing, hammock, and space for children to play. It is within walking distance to the ocean, beaches, golf, downtown shops/restaurants, Chatham A's baseball, and the Cape Cod bike trail. Bringing a babysitter or older relatives? Our first-floor in-law apartment with its separate ramp entrance affords privacy from the rest of the house. It includes a full bathroom, a bedroom with full-size bed, and living space with a TV. Another bedroom on the first floor can give a teenager or family member some privacy while the rest of the family sleeps in the four bedrooms on the second floor. Start your day with morning coffee as you sit on the porch and watch the sunrise over Black Pond. Then take in a round of golf, or a game of tennis -- or a walk along Shore Road overlooking the ocean, before the day with the family gets started. Your children can play a game of frisbee on the private lawn while you prepare for a day at the ocean, or a bike ride on the Cape Cod Rail Trail. While the rest of the family is at the beach, you can steal away to do some shopping in downtown Chatham. There are many gift shops, clothing stores, galleries, and restaurants to explore. And don't forget dessert -- the Candy Manor in town makes a variety of delicious chocolate and fudge confections.

In the afternoon -- after your nap in the hammock under the shade of mature trees - you take a walk to the Chatham Fish Pier, where you can watch the well-known Chatham fish fleet bring in their catch of the day. Then walk over to a Chatham A's baseball game -- with announcers and seating that is reminiscent of old-time baseball. Grown-ups can watch the game while children play in the huge playscape adjacent to the ball field. Or, perhaps you might enjoy walking to town to hear live, family-friendly music in downtown Chatham's bandstand. When you take a break from outdoor fun, our spacious living areas offer room for the family to gather to play one of the classic board games or to watch a movie on the TV/VCR/DVD player. If you decide to eat in, the dining room seats 10, so the whole family can enjoy a home-cooked meal together. Or you can enjoy a barbecue. There's an outdoor grill, and seating at the picnic table in the yard.

We enjoyed our stay in this wonderful old home. I understood that it was previously someone's family home and the owner was trying to retain it. I can understand why he would want to keep it in the family. One can just imagine the kinds of activities that took place there over the years.

This house had all of the amenities we needed for 10 people to stay together and still have enough room to move around and not crowd each other. There were enough beds for all and several rooms with televisions-if that were needed on a bad weather day. All of the house is clean and in great shape. There's a large yard for the kids to play in when you are at the home.

Our group did a lot of cooking, inside and out.We enjoyed having dinners around the large dining table and having conversations with each other, kids and adults alike. The kitchen is well-appointed. I'm not talking about granite countertops because that is not what this house is about, but stocked with utensils and equipment that is functional and can be utilized for a large crowd.

This vacation was fun for everyone on many different levels; we had a bike rental place and bike trail nearby, we had a great beach down the road with sandy shores and wonderful swimming, local attractions-mini golf, ice cream, candy stores and shops of all types.

Good grocery stores and restaurants are not far away in this charming town where you can walk just about anywhere. The adults in our group were interested in eating a lot of seafood because they live out west and don't get a lot of that. There was no shortage of great food with a place nearby (within walking distance) to pick fresh fish up right at the docks where the boats come in. There you would find fish and lobsters that were already cooked for you or you could take it home and cook it yourself.

We really had no problems with this house or its appliances but we were visited one morning by an tradesperson who came to fix a problem that was reported by the previous renter. It was taken care of promptly and reliably.

Everyone in our group had different perspectives on their favorite portions of the vacation. However, ALL of us had really good memories about this trip. We would like to thank the owner for letting us rent this property and tell him how much we appreciate that he's taken care of the property.
