Second Nature... an experience that stays with you

Our first visit to Second Nature was in the summer of 2007. One of the main reasons we chose this place was that it seemed to offer the best of two worlds with kayaking, canoeing, and the beach; now, the list of reasons are endless! As we pulled into the driveway for the first time, we were met with a wonderful house surrounded by lush vegetation, beautifully landscaped grounds, and an inviting pool. The inside of the house was so clean, each room decorated tastefully, yet, not giving one the feeling of "look don't touch" instead it was a comfortable, "sit-down" feeling. We instantly felt at home!
One thing I noted was that no matter where you were in the house, everything was there that you needed. The owners have thought of everything, making it obvious that they spend time here themselves to have noted these necessities. The owner of Second Nature was so helpful when I was trying to decide if this was the house that would meet all of our family vacation needs. It was reassuring to know that he was always available for assistance and only a phone call away should I have a question about the house.
It is a short walk down the road to the tennis courts and ocean. The private beach has a lifeguard, no crowds, and is very clean. Behind the house there is a canal where one can kayak or canoe by day and also have campfires, which we did almost every night. The billiard table is fun for all and the best treat is the view of the stars from the observation deck on top of the house...this is THE spot day (for some sun) or night! Everything one could want to do for summer fun is within reach such as great restaurants, historic sights, outfitting adventures, wild ponies, and so much more.
We love this house so much that each year we increase our time there. It is a hidden paradise nestled away between the ocean and the sound. It is such a relaxing feeling to slip the kayak into the water at the end of the day and paddle out into the sound to watch the sunset. My friends came down this past year and could not believe how comfortable and peaceful this place was. They have already recommended it to their family and friends.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone seeking a quiet place surrounded by nature. Each year we leave Second Nature relaxed, refreshed, and a bit sad that our wonderful time has come to a close and we must wait, yet, another year to return. All it takes is one visit to Second Nature and it becomes a lasting part of you.
