I am a retired French teacher who was born and spent most of my
childhood years in Montreal, Canada except for 5 years in Orange Park,
Florida where my father was a psychologist at the Yerkes chimpanzee
lab and a year on scholarship at a university in Neuchatel,
Switzerland. When I returned to Montreal I met my husband (on a blind
date ) at McGill University where I was an undergrad student and my
husband was a medical student. When we graduated he returned to Penna,
his home state, for his internship. After that his residency training
took us to Texas, Maryland, London, England and Wisconsin. During this
time we had two sons and later adopted a daughter and took in foster
daughters whom we wanted to adopt but the mothers just wanted to hold
on to them loosely. We also took in exchange students and a family
from Vietnam for 6 months. In 1989 my husband’s friend, from undergrad
years at Gettysburg College, purchased Nisbet Plantation on Nevis and
we started buying land next door. We ended up with 4 acres on the
ocean and now that we are retired we live in our own villa and rent
CORAL REEF VILLA. I feel so blessed.
JANE PAUL purchased this villa in 2000
Excellent accomdation, wonderful vacation
Date of Stay: April 2008
WOW, what a fantastic time we had at Coral Reef. From the pool, to the screened in veranda, to the well set up kitchen, we had the best of everything. What really made our vacation memorable was the people on Nevis. Warm, kind, and trusting come to mind. Everywhere we went people were so kind. We loved driving around waiting for goats to walk across the road. Nobody in a big hurry. The beach front was very private, quiet and you can walk along the shoreline for miles, and the snorkelling was amazing. We will come back,
hopefully for many years to come. My wife and myself have found a very special place and would not change a thing. Thanks Jane and Ron for sharing the Coral Reef with us. Also Jeannette the daily maid service and Henry the groundskeeper what wonderful people.

Owners Response: Thanks so much for the wonderful review. When you return again in April you will be able to enjoy two new snorkeling areas nearby and
some fabulous ruins that we hadn't explored before. I found quite a few 300 or more year old broken clay pipes, with some pipe bowls in good shape with the makers initials on them, at one of the many very old forts on the island. We explored early indian sites with an archeologist from the USA and a Clemson trained biologist and found pottery shards dating back to the time of Christ. Probably the indians came from the Orinoco River in Venezuela and were descended from stone age people. Their polishing stones are lovely.
This charming two bedroom villa has it all--a wonderful ocean view, a private pool, easy access to the beach and some high quality restaurants, and the island flavor. Visiting sheep, goats, monkeys, and even donkeys add to the ambience. The owners, Jane and Ron, were extremely helpful and friendly.
We wanted to be selfish and say something negative so that no one else ever finds out about this amazing place but that would not be fair. In one word, our stay at Coral Reef Villa was Fantastic! We wanted to stay forever! From the moment we requested information, Jane was the consummate professional and attended to all of our needs. We had no questions or concerns from the time we stepped off the plane, and we were treated like special guests – picked up at the airport, met at the boat dock, and then taken home to the wonderful villa! Wow! The home was so pleasant, and included a superb pool, a deck/patio with a breath-taking view of the ocean, steps away to the water, and every need taken care of! Fabulous walks on the beach, Caribbean breezes, hikes in the mountains – monkeys, donkeys and baby goats, oh my!
Thank you, Jane – we are going to try and come back EVERY year!
We could not have had a more wonderful vacation at Coral Reef in Nevis. The house is in excellent condition; everything worked perfectly. The house is quiet and relaxing, only seconds from the an amazing beach and resort, in a beautiful and safe neighborhood. Each bedroom has its own adjoining bathroom. The kitchen works well, with a view of the ocean and palm trees. The screened in porch facing both the pool and the ocean is spacious complete with relaxing chairs, dinner table, and hammocks. Not only were the actual accommodations beyond expectation, the island of Nevis is amazing and endless to explore. The owner is a wonderful host -- answering all questions and going above and beyond to make your vacation special. Snorkeling was great; the water clear and warm. All Nevis beaches are public and not crowded, so you can walk them all. The weather was amazing every day. I give this accommodation an outstanding review
My wife Susan and I spent a week at Coral Reef Villa located next to Nisbet Plantation Inn right on the beach. Getting to the villa from St. Kitts airport was easy as the owner Jane arranged for us to be met by a taxi to a private charter boat to run across to Nevis. Door to door took about 60 minutes. We were met at the Villa by the property manager Bonnie who briefed us on the house. This was my second time staying here, At Coral Reef you "live" on the huge screened in veranda that over looks a beautifully tiled and inviting private pool and beyond that is a full view of the Atlantic Ocean. It is very clear a lot of effort is put into the landscaping around the house to maintain the tropical beauty and privacy. We enjoyed some very nice walks on the beach. Nisbet Plantation Inn, was closed so we didn't get to enjoy the beach bar etc. The house itself is well appointed with a full kitchen and BBQ grill outside. We made use of that when we purchased live lobsters from a local fishermen one night and hilarity ensued because it was our first time cooking lobsters. They came out great as a matter of fact and it was new and fun experience. Other nights we went out to dinner eating at Mt. Nevis, Oualie Beach , the Yachtman, Chrishi Beach, Cafe de Artes and The Four Seasons. They were all good A rent a car is a must for this location and that was arranged by the owner before we arrived. I would definitely recommend renting this house and I would come back again.
I had a good feeling from the first email correspondence I had with Jane. She was helpful and available for all of my many questions. Marlon, who is fantastic picked us up at the airport, and Bonnie (also very helpful!) met us at the villa. When my husband and I walked into the villa we were both completely blown away, it was gorgeous, spotlessly clean, extremely spacious and amazing breeze from the Ocean blew through the house all day and night. We used the pool A LOT! and we spend most days at Lovers Beach - we were often the only people on the beach, what a treat! The hike at Golden Rock is a must! and we also went to the BBQ next door on our last night - you should go, great food, drinks and people. Yes, you definitely need a car. We really liked being on the Nisbit side of the island it's very quiet, which we loved. The location of the villa is perfect and Jane is the most wonderful person to rent from.
I was met at the house by the manager Bonnie. She gave me a good briefing on everything. I happened to be on the island for business, so it was great being able to come back to Coral Reef and enjoy the view and sounds of the ocean every evening. The best part of the house is the screened in veranda and pool area. Bedrooms and bathrooms are nice. There is no A/C in the house which is "old Caribbean" which I like. The fans keep you cool in the evenings and at night. The pool is really deep. Water temp was perfect at all times. I think because the tile is dark blue, it adds a couple degrees and makes the water more comfortable. The kitchen is very large and it comes with everything if you're cooking in. I went out every night, but had breakfast in every morning. I enjoyed taking walks on the beach which is right there.
This is great place for 2 couples or a family with kids. I would definitely rent again from Jane Paul. It is clear she works hard to keep her guests happy.
Nisbet Beach area is away from the hustle and bustle of any town and it's always with a happy feeling of homecoming to return to our special spectacular ocean views and refreshing breeze. The trade wind breezes are a special blessing in the Caribbean where they almost constantly blow and have a cooling effect which off sets the average temperature in Nevis which is usually in the low to mid 80's. The trade winds keep the palm fronds rustling and swaying and are a soothing feature, especially on our side of Nevis which is in the perfect location to get the maximum benefit from the trade winds coming from the North East. No need for anything other than quality ceiling fans and a dip in the pool or sea where the temperature stays about 82 degrees.
