There are numerous marinas along the shores where boats and water-skiing gear can be rented. They have well stocked supplies of boat and engine parts, as well as excellent repair shops, if needed.
Power boating, jet-skiing, pontoon boating, and sailing are all popular activities on the lake. There are four PP&L-maintained boat ramps on the lake with a $10.00 launch fee, with gas docks and pump-out stations at each. There is also a free boat ramp at the north end of the lake, at the Lake Wallenpaupack Boat Access Area and Mangran Cove.
For hiking enthusiasts, there are several nature areas with trails. Nearby Shuman Point and Ledgedale Natural Areas offer excellent day hikes.
Numerous antique shops are located in nearby Hawley, and ten miles away in Honesdale. One should not miss going to 'The Castle' while in the area. It's a store like no other, featuring antiques and replicas galore, as well as some amazing statuary.
Not far from the cottage is a U-pick Blueberry farm, and there is also a fresh fruit and vegetable-stand just a few miles away.
Restaurants are dotted all along the shores of the lake, including Overboards, Ehrhards, The Boat House, and Crazy Fingers. You can always find exactly what you're craving when dining out.
Our neighbors are a wonderful mix of younger and older couples, with children, grandchildren, dogs, cats, and there are also plenty of wild deer wandering through each day.
There are two stone patios near the shoreline and dock with a hammock, table, and loads of comfortable chairs for reading, snoozing, dining, or just watching the day go by. The sunsets are absolutely breathe-taking.
A dock (new in 2004) provides boaters with a safe, secure place to keep their boat, and it has plenty of room for a visiting boat or two. It's also a great place to swim from, or just lie in the sun.
'Our Dunguaire' was one of the first cottages built in the area back in the mid 1930's. Inside the cottage you'll find the main living area paneled in original knotty pine. A full kitchen allows you to cook the most extraordinary meals or simply reheat a pizza.
The two private, carpeted bedrooms have plenty of storage space, so a week's stay doesn't have to be lived out of a suitcase.
