How often can you watch a superpod of dolphin playfully jump and arc through the ocean just offshore, as you eat breakfast on your lanai? Apparently everyday, when you stay at Kevin's wonderful Unit 103 at the Poipu Palms. And if that isn't enough, his unit sits forward of the other groundfloor units, allowing a virtually unobstructed view of the amazing Kauai sunsets.
As former owners of a home on the North Shore of Kauai, we love to visit and explore the entire island, but still we found it hard to leave our perch in Poipu each day, as it offered tropical perfection and ultimate comfort. A short walk to the south offered all the amenities of the (former) Embassy Suites and Grand Hyatt hotels (be sure to check out the Hyatt's beautiful and classy Stevenson's Library, which includes an amazing Koa wood bar and a couple of pool tables), while a stroll to the north presented Brenneke's Beach Broiler restaurant and the beautiful Waiohai hotel. All these locations are close by when you want them, but far enough away to allow you to feel like you are on a deserted tropical isle as you lay poolside at the PP, with nothing but the swaying green palms, fluffy white clouds and glistening blue ocean surrounding you.
Kevin has appointed Unit 103 with everything you might need and more, with an amazingly well-stocked closet, full of cleaning and paper products, snorkel gear, etc. We even found a bottle of "Goo Gone" we used to remove a wad of gum that got stuck to our wallet in the airport x-ray machine! Plus, the washer and dryer allowed us to pack light, so we had plenty of room to bring home the island wear we always end up buying. There was nothing we needed that Kevin did not provide (except, of course, a way to stop the passage of time).
(One passing note: a renter from another unit told us the pool might be closed for a few days in the near future to allow the deck area to be painted. This work could already be done, but as a precaution, you might want to check with Kevin if any rehab is scheduled at the PP during your vacation dates.)
Now that our time in paradise is behind us, we are suffering from serious withdrawals, even here in sunny So. Cal., which just proves there is no place like Kauai and the Poipu Palms.
Thanks for your hospitality, Kevin. We look forward to returning soon.
