This beautiful, Non-Smoking condo has stunning, unobstructed views of the blue Pacific Ocean. You will hear the waves crash against the rocks below in a relaxing, tranquil environment. Poipu Beach on the South Shore of Kauai, is only half mile from our condo, and has recently been voted the #1 beach in the U.S.
This 12 unit condominium complex has its own private swimming pool for your enjoyment. As you relax in the pool area or large deck adjacent to the pool, you will be overlooking the gorgeous blue Pacific Ocean. Approximately 50' below you can watch the waves caress the lava shore line and you can look at the shoreline in both directions with 180 degree views. We want to make your vacation one you'll never forget. We anticipate you'll come back again and again, as you will fall in love with the Garden Island of Kauai.
From our private lanai you will be able to see dolphins, whales, and sea turtles. You will enjoy total relaxation as you overlook the private pool onto the many shades of blue of the Pacific Ocean.
The condo has every convenience imaginable. We will provide you with everything you will need to enjoy your stay with us. For your convenience and enjoyment we provide the following in the condo: Snorkels and fins, beach chairs, beach towels, a cooler, binoculars and wireless DSL high speed internet if you want to bring your laptop. Just bring your swimming suits, and leave the rest to us. I must warn you, however, that once you get here you won't want to go home!
Aloha and mahalo for considering our vacation home in paradise.

How often can you watch a superpod of dolphin playfully jump and arc through the ocean just offshore, as you eat breakfast on your lanai? Apparently everyday, when you stay at Kevin's wonderful Unit 103 at the Poipu Palms. And if that isn't enough, his unit sits forward of the other groundfloor units, allowing a virtually unobstructed view of the amazing Kauai sunsets.
As former owners of a home on the North Shore of Kauai, we love to visit and explore the entire island, but still we found it hard to leave our perch in Poipu each day, as it offered tropical perfection and ultimate comfort. A short walk to the south offered all the amenities of the (former) Embassy Suites and Grand Hyatt hotels (be sure to check out the Hyatt's beautiful and classy Stevenson's Library, which includes an amazing Koa wood bar and a couple of pool tables), while a stroll to the north presented Brenneke's Beach Broiler restaurant and the beautiful Waiohai hotel. All these locations are close by when you want them, but far enough away to allow you to feel like you are on a deserted tropical isle as you lay poolside at the PP, with nothing but the swaying green palms, fluffy white clouds and glistening blue ocean surrounding you.
Kevin has appointed Unit 103 with everything you might need and more, with an amazingly well-stocked closet, full of cleaning and paper products, snorkel gear, etc. We even found a bottle of "Goo Gone" we used to remove a wad of gum that got stuck to our wallet in the airport x-ray machine! Plus, the washer and dryer allowed us to pack light, so we had plenty of room to bring home the island wear we always end up buying. There was nothing we needed that Kevin did not provide (except, of course, a way to stop the passage of time).
(One passing note: a renter from another unit told us the pool might be closed for a few days in the near future to allow the deck area to be painted. This work could already be done, but as a precaution, you might want to check with Kevin if any rehab is scheduled at the PP during your vacation dates.)
Now that our time in paradise is behind us, we are suffering from serious withdrawals, even here in sunny So. Cal., which just proves there is no place like Kauai and the Poipu Palms.
Thanks for your hospitality, Kevin. We look forward to returning soon.

Poipu Palms is a nice quiet small complex. Every unit has it's own private entrance and an ocean view from each lanai. This unit is good for 2 couples, the 2 bedrooms are private, both beds are comfortable and the 2 bathrooms have everything we needed. The location is ideal. We watched whales breaching right out front, along with schools of dolphins, and sea turtles. The pool is in good shape with updated decking and plenty of lounge chairs. We had several windy days with cooler than normal temps, and the pool on those days was quite cool as well. There is an outdoor grill available to whoever gets there first. Unfortunately it is fueled by charcoal, so the guests must buy their own. Barbecue tools would be a nice addition. Off-street parking is quite adequate. Do not expect that a first-floor unit will be handicap-accessible. There are still a few stairs. The furnishings in the unit are very nice. We met returning renters who come here every year. They love it and we can see why! We we enjoy the proximity to Poipu Beach and the little town of Koloa has everything we need.
Short Story: We couldn't be more happy about our time in Kauai and we hope that next time we come, that apt is available. I recommend this place to anyone. Both the listing and the pictures are accurate. I couldn't see staying here without a car.
My partner and I, my little brother and his girl came to Kauai to get a little RnR. Staying there was super convenient. I know that most of the folks on VRBO are older than we are (we range from mid 20's to mid 30's), but it was perfect for us since we wanted to just chill/relax/rest/sleep, eat good food, and be in the water.
The apartment was clean and welcoming. Both rooms were perfect. Some might find the guest room is a bit tight - but it's not like you're spending so much time in the room when the waves and view are beckoning you from the balcony.
Speaking of the balcony, we had superb home-cooked breakfasts on the balcony everyday we were there. We didn't see dolphins, but we saw turtles in the water.
The place is super clean and since we were raised right, we left it even cleaner. So you, too, should keep it clean. Shoes off and don't bring sand in (hose off at the shower near the pool and there is also a foot faucet before you enter the place).
The owners were super helpful throughout the process re: questions and concerns. In fact Kevin was there the day we arrived and shared generously with us places to go for groceries, eats and other things.
Amenities - Full kitchen and utensils. There is a Big Save grocery store not too far- 7 minute drive.
They have a cd player boombox, so bring your tunes (I forget if they have an ipod extension).
They have a tv, but we never watched any. I think they had cards and board games, but we brought our dominoes just in case.
Within a short distance:
The walk to Poipu Beach is wonderful and short. Kalapaki Joe's is better than Brennecke's (just so you know).
The coastal hike from the Hyatt is AMAZING.
Da Crack is a local burrito/taco shop that is very tasty. Right next to it is another grocery store where there is a larger selection of beer/wine and liquor.
If you stay here, you can still get that "touristy" feel by going to the mall (again, down the road).
Further out and even more amazing:
We drove an hour to the north side of the island and visited the Steelgrass Chocolate Farm,
we went to farmer's markets and we got to other beaches in a half hour.
Don't worry about driving, because driving in Kauai is not like driving in any other city.
Amazing location to see sunsets, sunrises, moon rising and setting, rainbows if lucky, spinner dolphins, turtles, all from the Lania! Don't miss the sunrise over the ocean (we missed 3 sunrises until I walked out to the car early one morning and saw it was right there!) - walk out front, 2nd condo to the right (east), walk down the parking lot on the left to a pathway to the cliff and to the Hyatt, and watch the sunrise! Always sunny in Poipu and a wonderful location and condo to come home to after a day of hiking, snorkling, surfing, sailing, etc. We could not wait to get back in time to grill fish and sit on the lanai with our drinks and watch the sunset. Then we would take a dip in the pool at 8:00 PM and look at the full moon and listen to the ocean feet away. The only noise was the sound of the waves crashing! Even after nine days, my husband and I were speechless and high fiving each other! We could not believe the beauty of this perfect location. Mahalo a nui to Nicole and Kevin, who thought of everything to make their guests comfortable!
The owner & his daughter did a great job of answering condo questions and explaining final arrangements. We ate most meals on the lanai and the view was incredible--unobstructed ocean view, complete with a few sea turtles and dolphins! I would not describe the condo as "luxurious", but we found it very confortable. Appreciated the access to wireless internet & also the outdoor charcoal grill. I'd stay there again!
Would highly recommend the hula demonstration at the Hyatt. (It's during their happy hour a couple of times a week and is free) Also, the "heritage hike" which starts at the Hyatt and runs for quite a ways along the golf course is a beautiful and a relatively easy hike.
We spent 4 nights at Poipu Palms #103 in May 2010 after spending a week at the Mariott in Ohau. We wish it were the other way around!! Kauai was much more enjoyable than Ohau and Poipu Palms was perfect. It's clean, comfortable and perfectly equipped for a great stay. We looked forward to drinks each day on the Lanai after a busy day of tourist activities. The view is spectacular and we were even treated to some late season whale watching. Highly recommend and hope to return someday.
