TANKAH TROPICAL BEACH GETAWAY! RELAX, KAYAK, SNORKEL, AND ENJOY THE GREAT VIEWS!

Tankah Villa Rental Photos and Description

3BR, 3 1/2 Bath Oceanfront Rental on Tankah Bay, Sleeps 6- 8 max.

Kayak, snorkel, bicycle and explore! Or, just relax in a hammock and enjoy the views! At Casa del Perro Feliz, the options are yours!

Tucked into the curve of the bay, and built amongst the palms and indigenous trees, Casa del Perro Feliz is a favorite of many visitors to the Tankah area. Tastefully appointed, yet very comfortable, our 3 Bedroom, 3 1/2 bath home, located on quiet Tankah Bay in the Mayan Riviera is available for rent to guests who appreciate beauty, quality and nature. Relax and enjoy the stunning views such as gorgeous sunsets and the turquoise Caribbean from our beach or rooftop observation area. Located south of Cancun, and in between Akumal and Tulum, Casa del Perro Feliz is the perfect place to read, relax, sunbathe, kayak, snorkel and enjoy the wonders of nature. If you are looking for a beachfront villa with a beautiful, natural setting, featuring quality throughout, you've found it!

Great value along with attention to detail!: The culmination of many years of planning and dreams, the house features over 2400sq.ft. with Mexican tile floors, Mahogany trim and doors, and a “cooks” kitchen with granite countertops and Bosch gas stove. The handmade, custom, dining room table seats 8 and the breakfast bar seats 3. If you don't feel like cooking, you can also have Maria, who is an excellent cook, prepare your breakfast or dinner for a very reasonable fee.

All bedrooms have private baths, large closets, comfortable beds with Serta pillowtop mattresses, and box springs and high TC linens. One bedroom is on the first floor, and can be either twins or a king, the other two are located on the second floor and have queen and king sized beds, and separated by the second floor balcony. The futon and airbed can accommodate 2 addtional people.

Designed to be environmentally friendly and not require air conditioning, the passive solar design, 9 1/2 ft. high ceilings, Hunter ceiling fans, and strategically placed, screened windows, provide soothing sea breezes along with views of the ocean and keep the house cool and comfortable. Enjoy the sound of the waves lapping on the shore, and the breezes rustling in the palm leaves instead of the hum of the air conditioner. Shaded by the native palm trees, the front of the house, and our palapa, are ideal spots for relaxing in one of the hammocks with a good book.

The rooftop features a large open area with a built-in sofa which seats 8, and has a million dollar view. Relax on the rooftop sofa with a Margarita and watch the indigenous birds and the sun set over the jungle. It is the perfect way to end a great day at the beach!

If you’ve never visited Tankah before, you’ll be delighted to find a small, security gated community with 2 restaurants, in between Tulum and Akumal.

In addition to our caretakers Ulises and Maria, who live on- site in a separate house, our American property manager lives nearby on the bay.

We have been visiting the area for over 25 years, and feel that Tankah offers the best of both worlds; nature & seclusion with nearby amenities such as shopping, restaurants and cultural sites. We have found The kayaking and snorkeling in front of the villa is some of the best in the area. We see a multitude of various fish every time we snorkel including,Queen Angelfish, Permit, Trunk, and Parrot fish.

Casa del Perro Feliz has been the home away from home for many, many, satisfied guests. We have found that the volume of repeat guests is by far the best testimonial we could ask for! We invite you to visit Casa del Perro Feliz! For more information visit our website as listed below!

This is a NON-SMOKING house. Smokers are asked to smoke outside only. No smoking on the roof due to the materials used on the roof’s surface.

Why Ann chose Tankah

We had been visiting this general area since the mid 1980's and found Tankah to have what we were looking for - a quiet area with astounding natural beauty, yet close to so many conveniences, attractions and places to visit and explore. We feel very fortunate to have a home in this magnificent area and enjoy sharing it with others who can also appreciate it.

What makes this villa unique

We love the quiet, natural beauty of our land and all of our trees, the bird watching, and our beautiful ocean and jungle views. We also love the great snorkeling and kayaking that we can do right in front of our own house, along with listening to the waves at night as they lull us to sleep.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Ann,

I returned to California late last night and am currently going through Casa del Perro Feliz withdrawals. Your home is wonderful: the location, the views, the dogs, Ulises & Maria; wonderful, wonderful.

The Tulum ruins are incredible, its beaches amazing. Thanks for the tips on the best timing, everywhere we went we seemed to be two steps ahead of the crowds. We especially loved the snorkeling in Cozumel and Luca at the Blue Sky and margaritas on the beach.

Katie, Gray and I had a great vacation. Thank you.

We hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving and wish you very Happy Holidays.

Katie, Gray & Colleen

P.S.

I have a crush on Blackie. That dog is absolutely adorable :).

Ann and Chuck,
We must thank you again for providing a wonderful vacation for us through the rental of your home in Tankah. Last year we rode out Hurricane Wilma in the casa which proved to be a formidable opponent to the hurricane. This year was less exciting weather wise and we got to take in the sun, snorkel and kayak the bay, experience the "gathering" of the parrots in the jungle in back of the casa and just relax this time. We love the way you have preserved and respected the environment that surrounds your home, be it letting the iguanas feast upon your garden or the palm trees that stand where they have grown by themselves. Casa del Perro Feliz will always hold a special place in our hearts and memories! Shall we book a third time now?

Spring Break 2014

Tankah Beachfront was everything we expected and more! Wonderful, clean accomodations. Helpful staff that was nearby but never bothersome. Spectacular views from rooftop. Walking distance to a couple restaurants. Owners provided detailed info re: travel tips and local points of interest. Recommend water shoes because beach is more rocky than expected. Weather was 100% terrific. Local Cenote was fun and great for novice snorkelers.

Wonderfully Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5
My family just returned from an incredible stay! The home is well appointed and in a terrific location. My children (ages 8 and 6) were able to snorkel literally right out the back door. We had everything we needed and would highly recommend this vacation rental. The owner is fantastically helpful and really went out of her way to make sure we had the best information for maximizing our time in the area.

Paradise!

  • 5 of 5
My family and I stayed here for the Xmas/New Year's holiday and had an absolutely blissful time. The house is spacious and welcoming, and the caretakers were as sweet as can be. We hardly saw our neighbors, which meant we usually had a gigantic beach and reef to ourselves. Great restaurants in the area, but we hardly left this beautiful house.

My stay at Casa Del Perro Feliz

  • 5 of 5
I enjoyed a week with my sister, brother-in-law and nephew at Casa Del Perro Felez. I thought the house was fabulous. It was very nice and clean, and the beach was only a few steps away. Sometimes when you think you are going to stay on the beach, it ends up that you have to walk a quarter of a mile to get to it. Not so here. The beach was so close. I really enjoyed the fact that their were bikes and kayaks on the property to use. There are also a couple of restaurants within walking distance that we enjoyed. Maria cooked several dinners and a breakfast for us and the food was excellent. Another thing that was awesome was the rooftop area. I liked hanging out there and watching the sunset.

Wonderful vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5
My family of four stayed at Casa del Perro Feliz the first week of October. We had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and in a great location. You are literally steps away from the water and have such a wonderful view from the backyard and rooftop.
This was our first trip to this part of Mexico and there are so many things you can do. We stayed at the house most of the time but ventured out for a few activities. The caretaker's son Eder is a taxi driver and he drove us around all week. If you choose not to rent a car Eder can do airport pick up and drop offs too. His 5yr old daughter is so sweet. We met her on our trip to the grocery with Maria. We chose to do a day trip to Hidden Worlds and it was a lot of fun. I definitely recommend it. We also went to Yal Ku lagoon and snorkeled and it was amazing. You have to go there. Even though it rained on us at the lagoon it didn't stop us from having a great time. We brought our own picnic lunch and bought drinks. After the lagoon we headed over to the beach hoping to see some sea turtles -no such luck but I did see a huge stingray lying on the ocean floor.
Maria cooked for us at the casa 3 nights and the food was terrific. We also ate multiple times at both restaurants that are within walking distance. I was pleased with both of them. This time of year is very slow and but we got excellent food and service.
Back to the house. Although my husband wasn't too happy about it, I loved not having a television. We played rummy and poker and hung out on the rooftop in the evenings. With no a/c the upstairs was pretty warm the first couple of nights but it cooled down after we got a little rain. I love the balcony and rooftop and all of the hammocks. They definitely got some use the week we stayed. No matter how hot it was it was always cool in the shade where the 3 hammocks are located.
We snorkeled and snorkeled and snorkeled. We found the best snorkeling at the intersection of Casa Caribbean Soul and the orange casa that is thee up from ours. We also used the kayaks and bikes on several occasions but just walking along the shoreline was a joy. We kayaked over to the Ceynote restaurant one day for drinks and snorkeled there. Pretty cool seeing the cave opening and all of the fish. Snorkeling, kayaks, and bikes are the reasons I chose Casa del Perro Feliz and I am very happy I did. All in all it was an excellent vacation. My biggest complaint is that the week went by way too quickly.
