If you are tired of the Ritz and prefer the comfort and freedom of a home away from home you will love Pugwash Cottage!
Hi! Thank you for visiting my listing. I acquired Pugwash Cottage in 2008 and have really enjoyed my semi-retirement completing extensive upgrading here and on my pride and joy..the boat of course! I personally welcome my guests and make sure they are comfortably settled in and oriented to the local scene! A great vacation starts with a special greeting and I look forward to meeting you at Pugwash Cottage!
P.s The name comes from the 60's cartoon character Captain Pugwash...A grand old character ideal for lovers of sail and sea!
BARRY SOLOMON purchased this cottage in 2008
The pictures tell it all! This area is as good as it gets and offers so much for all ages and interests. The Niagara Gorge is as spectacular as the Falls themselves and Niagara On The Lake is the prettiest town I have yet visited in Canada...period. Sailing and motorcycling are my good weather passions and this area is ideal for both!
You will have to look long and hard to find a prettier region and Pugwash Cottage gives you the ideal base from which to explore.
You will find Pugwash Cottage has an excellent location in all respects...two minutes walk to an excellent mini plaza with bank, convenience store, gourmet pizza and a bakery / bistro that is 'simply the best'! A ten minute stroll puts you in town and another five has you looking across the lake to the unique skyline of Toronto.Everything you need is a walk away...park the car and just enjoy!!
Very comfortable and a great experience. Will definitely recommend to friends! Really found our cruise on The Taya Two delightful!Hope to visit again in the Fall.
Pugwash cottage is a very beautiful property with everything you require for a home away from home vacation. It is beautifully furnished and ideally located to explore the Niagara region. The beds are comfy, the tv is huge, the garden is secluded and the best bakery and pizza place is just a 2 min walk away. The cherry on top is the host himself, Barry and his first mate Pip (the dog) who made us feel so welcome. When staying here it is a must to book up with Jola for a sail with Barry and pip, even if you are a bit wary of boats, a cruise in their capable hands will overcome your fears! I stayed here with my teenage son, 2 young daughters and nephew in his 20s. There was plenty to do in surrounding area with Niagara-on-the-lake just a 10 min stroll away and the cottage accommodated us all very comfortably. Barry (and Pip) thank you so much for having us and I'm sure we'll be back, hope you're both still rocking that Harley! ;) Love from Bonny Scotland x
A cozy and charming cottage getaway. All the required amenities including comfortable beds.
The location was good, far enough from the main street but easy walking and biking distance.
We especially loved the deck and the proximity to a terrific bakery. The big screen TV.was appreciated after a busy day.
Our activities during our stay included golfing, cycling, theatre, wineries and sailing.
We loved every minute of our stay. We shared the cottage with another couple. There was plenty of room. The bedrooms were well appointed; beds very comfortable. The kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed for stay in meals as we BBQed quite a few times during our stay. The back deck is a great place to unwind with a glass of wine from one of the nearby vineyards after a day of touring the area. And on the only day where it rained, and later in the evenings, we made use of the extensive home theatre setup in the living room. It's walking distance from town, great restaurants and incredible shops.
All in all it was nothing short of perfect and we look forward to going back.
Our family had an absolutely charming, relaxing vacation courtesy of Captain Barry's lovely, well kept cottage Pugwash. This cottage is very well appointed, in a quiet neighborhood, and we easily walked to town, biked to the numerous paths and the town pool. My two children 8 and 10 enjoyed playing in the yard. The owner Barry welcomed us with open arms and made our stay very comfortable. We're going back! He also happens to captain a nice sailboat that we rented for a sail on Lake Ontario. The water was perfect! Definitely both thumbs up for Pugwash.
The owner met us at the house and gave us a tour. Immediately we saw that we were staying at his HOME. Which means everything you need is right there. Including a very private backyard - for both sun and shade lovers. Full, mature trees allow for some pretty great bird watching, while you sip your morning coffee on the deck. Downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake is a stroll away. The horse and buggies came by every morning. Best bakery around is almost right in the backyard - not your average cookies & cake place. Think bakery-as-art. And pretty delicious to boot.
The property and house were very clean and well-maintained. The beds were incredibly comfortable to sleep in.
It was just perfect for 2 couples. We were all very happy and comfortable there. We can't wait to go back next year.
I highly recommend this cottage. The house and garden were wonderful. Very comfortable, meticulously maintained, everything shipshape. Located a very pleasant 15 minute stroll to the heart of the historic district.Close enough for a run to the path along the Niagara Parkway. Great location for a visit to Niagara Falls, to tour the local vineyards, or to explore the historical sites of "Upper Canada".
Try a personalised cruise aboard the Taya Two. Please check our reviews. This is a unique experience for Pugwash guests.
