The house is closely located to the slopes and offered plenty of space for 2 families - 5 kids in all! The management company was very helpful and accommodating. My husband accidentally left his suitcase and the management company sent it Fedex so that we had it by the end of the week. Overall, great house and experience!
We just returned from a wonderful girl's weekend staying at the house. Spoke to the owner before renting because of the negative review below and were assured that the house was in great condition. The owner did not disappoint! The house has a cozy, yet elegant mountain feel. 8 women fit perfectly comfortably in the house. We took a hike up the ski slope one morning and enjoyed the marvelous views of Beech Mountain. While atop ski beech, we saw the new ski bar that is being built. We are already planning our ski trips for later on this Winter to stay in this same home! We had breakfast one day at Fred's and ate at the Mexican restaurant that was within walking distance one evening. We also enjoyed dinner at Jackalopes. We also had fun at the Grandfather winery and the Banner Elk winery while on our visit. Such a lovely home, so glad we gave it a chance!!!!!!
I am writing this review because I don't want any other family to have the HORRIBLE experience we had staying in this cabin. We arrived late at night after a 15 hour drive and the house was extremely filthy. I have been traveling at least four times a year for 20 years and this is the WORST accommodation I have ever stayed in. There were cobwebs on every light fixture in the house and all over the ceilings, the house is in serious need of proper maintenance (needs several repairs), there were balls of dust in every corner you looked as well as behind furniture and beds, the kitchen was disgusting there was caked on substances all over the cabinets and floors, the pots and pans were in terrible condition. We had to go out and buy pots and pans to use for our stay. The bed linens were in terrible condition. We had to wash and dry all the sheets just to feel decent about going to sleep and we arrived at 10pm with small children. Needless to say no one went to sleep until after 1 am. The bathrooms were gross and 2 were extremely tiny. I spent my vacation cleaning a few hours a day just to make it half decent for my children and I could not even make a dent in the filth. I could go on and on about how horrible this house is. The only positive thing is that it is close to Ski Beech, but I would have rather driven an hour every day than to have stayed in this house. If I were to write about each complaint I had I would never finish. When I contacted the individual we had rented the house from he apologized and said he take it up with his housekeepers. He also offered me an extra night, but who would want an extra night in that house. When we arrived back at our home town I wrote him an email asking him to please not rent the house until all the issues were address and for my post cleaning fee back considering we arrived to a filthy and poorly maintained house. He basically told me that me that all my concerns were a matter of opinion and that the house needed to be cleaned after we left so he was going to keep that fee. OF COURSE THE HOUSE HAD TO BE CLEANED AFTER WE LEFT IT WAS DISGUSTING TO BEGIN WITH. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here!!!!! If you do you will be very disappointed!
