SECLUDED LOG CABIN IN THE HEART OF WINE COUNTRY ~NC-VA~ LINE

Roaring Gap Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Detached Unit, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This cabin was built from old tobacco barns and is authentic as they come while having all of the amenities of home!

You truly must see it to believe it. It is very secluded, with only one other resident on the road and sitting on almost 4 acres. No one lives on either side. It is a heavily wooded property so be aware of all that could include (reptiles, furry animals, insects, etc...).

There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms inside the cabin. A full kitchen and wonderful 'living area' are separated by a beautiful stone fireplace with a wood burner on one side and a wood stove on the other.

There is also a separate cabin that sleeps two and is akin to a studio apartment. There is not a bathroom in that cabin and it is heated using electric heat.

There is a lovely bubbling creek just a short walk through the woods, where you will find a wonderful deck and hammocks or chairs to cozy up in with a good book. It's a great place to truly enjoy nature.

Shelton Vineyards is within 1/2 a mile 'as the crow flies', and a short drive from the cabin. It is one of the largest vineyards in the state and has a wonderful restaurant on site. Tours and wine tastings are available as well.

There are many other vineyards located in the 'Yadkin Valley' and information is readily available online. Go to Yadkin Valley Wine Trail (online),to find anything you could possibly need to know about wine in NC.

The final stretch of road (approx 1/4 mile), leading to the cabin is bumpy but certainly passable, even in rainy weather. This property is located in a heavily wooded area. You are likely to see animals/rodents/insects unique to a heavily wooded area. If you are not 'into' the woods because of a fear or discomfort of these types of encounters, this may not be the place for you! Those who have a love of the outdoors and all that comes with it are a perfect fit!

All part of the rustic/back to nature features of this charming cabin!

I am a business owner of a recycling company in the Piedmont section of the state. I work hard and when I need a break, I head north to Dobson. I can't wait for others to enjoy the cabin as much as I have, since purchasing it in 2006.

Susan Newman purchased this cabin in 2006

I describe the cabin as being at the 'top' of the foothills. You can see mountain ranges all around, but it is still very convenient from the Piedmont area to get to. Less than 2 hours. The first time I saw the cabin I knew I had to have it. It's authentic, secluded, and a corner of the property borders Shelton Vineyards property. There are vineyards all around and I enjoy visiting them and participating in many of the special events that are offered year 'round.

When I'm at the cabin all of the weight of the world disappears. It is peaceful and serene. I call the cabin my 'slice of heaven'. The creek is a short walk down a well marked path through the woods. I have built a deck by the creek and chairs are available to rest in while listening to the creek and reading a good book.

DOBSON CABIN - HEAVEN ON EARTH!

  • 5 of 5
WE LOVED THIS CABIN!! When I die, this is what my heaven will look like! My husband and I have already told several people about this cabin. Susan, you were so wonderful to work with -- very accommodating. Thanks again for everything. Walter and I had a great time, loved the cabin and grounds and the nearby vineyards were an added treat!
We will be sure to keep it in mind for future trips North.

RELAXING!!

  • 5 of 5
I recently visited this cabin with my girlfriend and mom. It was prefect for what we wanted to do, which was just relax. Dealing with the owner was awesome, she provided a lot of helpful suggestions. We did the wine tasting and tour at Shelton's Vineyards. I did not like the wine very much but the lunch that we had was excellent. The weather was perfect so we spent a lot of time outside just hanging out in the grass and the sun. I am very interested on coming again. I have a feeling we will be frequent visitors. We also brought our dog, who had a great time as well. Very pet friendly place with lots of room for the dog to run around in.

BEAUTIFUL RUSTIC WEEKEND

  • 5 of 5
My mother and I visited this cabin for a long weekend, and we had a wonderful time. Although the weather was on the chilly side, we were very warm and comfortable and had everything we needed for the weekend. My dog enjoyed running around the yard and splashing around in the creek, and my mother and I enjoyed the quite and the beauty. We really enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to returning in the future.

A DOLLHOUSE IN THE WOODS

  • 5 of 5
I rented this cabin in the dead on winter and loved it. I can only imagine how it must feel when it's all green and sunny around it. This is a true log cabin with all the comfort of a modern dwelling (appliances, A/C). It is very clean and beautifully decorated. It has a very unique cozy feeling about it. A very warm and peaceful getaway. The woods that surround the cabin are so natural that thousands of small black birds had apparently made them their winter residence, which provided me with a beautiful spectacle while I sat on the back porch. The owner of the cabin is a very professional person. I will definitely recommend this rental to my friends and more than likely visit it myself again in summer!

GREAT PLACE TO GET AWAY FROM IT ALL!

  • 5 of 5
Great cabin if you are looking for a quiet, secluded space. The cabin was charming on the inside (pictures give you an accurate sense of what the cabin has to offer). We spent the weekend cooking delicious food and drinking hot cider so it was important that we find a place that had some kitchen appliances/dishes, etc. This place had everything we needed. I can't say much about the surrounding area as we stayed around the place eating food, sitting on the back porch, and enjoying the fire.

Also, the owner was wonderful to work with. She answered all my questions and provided some helpful information about the cabin and the surrounding area. I would highly recommend this place to someone who wants a little privacy to relax. Bring a book, bottle of wine, groceries, and enjoy sitting on the back porch or by the fire!
