The Ridge is a natural wood, rustic timber-constructed, saltbox design with wide oak floors, a balcony bedroom, cathedral celing, and a wrap-around deck. The views are spectacular from the interior and from the deck! There are wooded hiking trails on the property which lead up to a cleared hilltop with a 'Sound of Music' -like view and picnic table. Mountain streams, swimming, fishing, golfing, and historic sightseeing are all close by. Quiet and peaceful, the Ridge is the perfect place for a couple to relax and recharge.

Conveniently located near Lexington VA: You would think you were many miles out in the country but in fact The Ridge is less than 3 miles from the city limits of historic Lexington Virginia. Home of Washington and Lee University, Virginia Military Institute, and the Virginia Horse Center, Lexington has many historic and other sites of interest. Two 'must see' sites are Natural Bridge of Virginia, one of the seven natural wonders of the world located 20 miles south, and Goshen Pass, a beautiful mountain river with picnic facilities and swimming holes located 15 miles west. Both Universities have civil war museums. The Virginia Horse Centere holds many equestrian competitions and shows throughout the year.

Hiking trails: There are two hiking trails on the property, both leading to a picnic location with table. One leads into a mature forest. The other climbs to a hill top clearing with a breathtaking view.

Easy access by car: The Ridge is easily accessible by car over paved county roads and a gentle well maintained gravel driveway.

A great little place with an awesome view! The house was clean and comfortable and the owners were great to work with. An easy drive to Lexington and everything the area has to offer. Will definitely look to the Ridge again when making our next visit!

Great cabin

I stayed at the Ridge for a long weekend with my wife and 2 girls. The cabin was a good size for us and very clean. The girls had a great time hiking around on trails around the cabin. We went up to the "top" of the property and the view was truly stunning. Even though you feel completely out in the country, the cabin is less than 10 minutes to Lexington. John, the owner, was helpful and easy to communicate with. Whenever I stay in Lex in the future, it will be at the Ridge.

Warm, Cozy, Romantic Getaway

At the Ridge, I discovered a peaceful getaway with spectacular views, a cozy place to share a romantic weekend with my girl to celebrate our 1st year anniversary. The property was clean and well maintained. The owner John was very helpful, providing excellent customer service. We visited the caverns, went horse back riding, painted the sunset at the peak of the trail. Spent our evenings by the fireplace sharing a home cooked meal. A memorable weekend, we hope to return again soon.

Perfect romantic getaway!

My partner and I had a fantastic time at the Ridge for valentine's day. The cottage was gorgeous, perfectly appointed, secluded, and had a spectacular view. We were completely cozy and found that the house had everything we needed. Whenever we said, "oops, we forgot to bring...," we would find it already supplied - a well-equipped kitchen, playing cards, paper towels, you name it!

It was spotless and had lots of room. We really had a perfect weekend of rest and relaxation and we'd love to come back again sometime!
