Most people that visit Southern California stay in Hotels and rush to attractions such as Disneyland. Those that stay in hotels miss living the true Southern California Beach Life. There is nothing like a few idle days to enjoy the beach and the simple pleasures of the beach, the pier and the downtown area. That is why my guests are given a ride in my old ford woodie surf wagon and I play them a tune on my ukulele. I even have a surf board or a boogie board to play in the surf with. Imagine an evening on the beach, under the stars and cooking a hot dog over your own open fire pit. There is nothing like a brisk stroll on the beach or an ocean swim in the morning before you start your day. My home is kid friendly and there are even a few sand toys to play with on the beach. Perhaps an elegant meal in one of Newport Beach’s fine restaurants or (my favorite) a meal at Dukes Canoe Club (located at the foot of the Huntington Beach pier) is something for you.

We are only two blocks off the state beach. Huntington Beach is world recognized for its beautiful white, sandy beach. Surf conditions? We are Surf City and host international surfing contests. It is a surf location for the pros and beginners alike. Huntington Beach is the third largest city in Orange County. Morgan Quitno Press lists Huntington Beach as “Safest City” in America, among America’s 100 largest cities. It is one of the last beach cities that permits beach fires. It is close to all that Southern California has to offer for a special vacation. Major attractions: 26 minutes from Disneyland / Knotts Berry Farm, 61 minutes from Universal City Studios in Los Angeles, 48 minutes from the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles/ LA Art Museum / LA Zoo/Hollywood Blvd / Beverly Hills shopping etc. It is a 15 minute ride to Newport Beach where you can catch the Catalina Express (Boat) to Catalina Island.

There is a $150 Departure Cleaning Fee. Full payment must be received 30 days prior to arrival.

Notes: We do have a minimum age limit for renters. A free ride in a ford woodie surf wagon with each stay. Catering Available: arrangements can be made for meals to be prepared for a negotiated fee Parking for your Parking for RV/Boat/Trailer on street near by. Although the house is a non smoking house, guests can smoke on front porch area and in rear lounging area. Beach equipment can be arranged for and there are several close locations to rent bicycles to ride along the beach. ( There is a very nice bike trail that goes along the beach. You could ride all the way to the end of Balboa to the famious surf spot called the Wedge and the other way would take you to another great surf location. Bolsa Chica State Beach.) Boats can be rented in closeby Newport Beach. There is interesting kayaking through upper Newport Bay into the wildlife preserve. There is sportfishing rentals and day boats in Newport Beach.

Surfing Details: For those guests who surf, there is adequate secure board storage. If you are a beginner or novice, there are close by rental opportunities. Moreover, there are several surf schools that offer equipment rental and instruction.

Boating Details: Newport Beach is close by and offers opportunities for boat rental, dinner cruises, harbor cruises and fishing adventures. In addition, there is an express boat out of Newport Beach to Catalina Island for day trips. Whale watching boats also are available from Newport Beach. Just up the beach is Long Beach with the Queen Mary and many other attractions.

Dinning and Shopping: There are numerous great restaurants very close to the house and the shopping is world class. We have cute little shops downtown, there are close by malls such as Fashion Island in Newport Beach and the new and exciting Huntington Beach Mall, Bella Tera. Then for the serious shopper there are the fashion outlets in the garment district of Los Angeles and the discount centers such as Costco and Sam's Club.
