Instead of squeezing into 1 or 2 hotel rooms, come and enjoy our 2 bedroom, 2 bath home. Enjoy the private, in-ground heated pool in the enclosed lanai as well as the dock on the saltwater canal. And we should mention that well behaved pets are always welcome as we know pets are part of the family.
This home is in a residential community and offers the amenities of a leisure vacation. A full kitchen is available for cooking as well as an outdoor grill. The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, glasses...the items you would find at home. There also is a washer and dryer for your cleaning needs. Stored in the laundry room are fishing rods and reels, beach chairs, a cooler, and pool toys. You are as ready to go to the beach as to hang out at home. Linens and towels are included. The two bedrooms each have a queen size bed, the sofa bed is also queen size, and there is a double size air mattress. The house easily accommodates 6 guests. If you are bringing the kids there are several board games as well as a ping pong table. We also have 2 flat screen TVs with cable and internet by Comcast.
As a residential community, Port Charlotte has a diverse number of activities including good restaurants, movie theater, shopping mall, many food markets, and a great library. You can also see local theater performances and during spring training, baseball fans can enjoy games at the sports complex, now the spring training home of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Relax at Our Home and Beat the Cold. It can get cold in Port Charlotte but since we are below the frost line you can bet if it's cold here it's brutal up north. Many of our renters come just to get away from frigid, snowy, northern winter climates. And most of the time here it's pretty warm and sunny. The average high temperature for Port Charlotte in January is 75 while the average low is 52 (for more weather related information visit www.weather.com.) And...it doesn't snow here. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the snow, but only now and then and generally when our family wants to go skiing. But we also love to swim, beach comb, snorkel, and suntan.
So come visit Gulf Coast Florida: it has a lot to offer. Warm weather, beautiful beaches, and lots of amenities. Visit gulf beaches that are easily accessible yet remote enough to attract abundant birds, dolphins, sea turtles, stingrays, iguana, and other wildlife. And even though our home is not on the coast, much wildlife can be seen right at our door. At our saltwater canal front home we have seen dolphins, manatee, fish, and beautiful birds, and occasional alligator. We even have an osprey nesting in the area.
You can rent a boat, canoe, kayak, or sea-doo in the nearby town of Punta Gorda; charter a deep-sea fishing excursion; play a round of golf at one of several courses; drive to Everglades National Park; venture as far as Key West or the Florida theme parks; or just stay home and relax by the pool. You get to decide.
If you decide to venture out you can head southeast on Alligator Alley to Everglades National Park, Miami, or the Florida Keys. To see the only coral reef located in the US visit John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo to snorkel, scuba dive, or take a glass bottom boat tour. If you are really adventurous, go all the way to Key West and drive one of the most scenic highways in the US. You can stop on the way and swim with the dolphins at Dolphins Plus before arriving at one of the most eclectic places in the US. Visiting Key West would require an overnight stay, but you may want to stay longer. Closer to home are the outlets and beaches of Fort Myers, as well as the Immokalee Casino.
If you head in a northerly direction visit Sarasota (about 30 miles,) Venice (about 40 miles,) Tampa/St. Pete (about 70 miles,) or head on up to the Florida theme parks. Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World are at least three hours away (about 165 miles) so may want want to stay over night. Sarasota boasts one of the top 10 beaches in the US, Siesta Key, and while you're there you can also visit The Ringling Museum. But be sure to visit our favorite beach and town Boca Grande on Gasparilla Island. The beach is beautiful and never crowded and the town is lovely. A hint though: wherever you go bring and use suntan lotion and if you go to the beach bring a beach umbrella. The sun in Florida is strong.
My wife, father-in-law, myself and two small dogs drove from Toronto to Port Charlotte to stay at Linda & Paul's house for three weeks in December 2014.
The house was fantastic! From the minute we arrived we felt right at home. It was incredibly clean, well furnished and extremely comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed and had all the comforts of home and then some....any morning you could enjoy the smell of fresh bread baked in your very own bread maker or in the evening enjoy a fondue dinner on the pool patio. We has an amazing Christmas dinner at the house and found we had every single utensil necessary for a wonderful dinner.
The heated pool was the highlight of the stay for me. It was crystal clear and big and was equipped with all the toys you need to enjoy your stay! I loved floating around the pool in the evening listening to all fish jumping in the canal. The pool deck had a nice covered area in case you wanted to get out of the sun for a while and either read or have breakfast, lunch or dinner. The entire pool area is screened in so you were never bothered by bugs at all. Because of this you could completely open the two large sliding glass doors to the living and dining area and gaze out over the pool and canal while enjoying the Florida breeze. We took advantage of the ping pong table that is located on the deck as well.
Our two dogs loved the backyard as it was fenced in and had direct access to the dock so they could watch the fish in the canal swim around. The dock was wonderful to sit on and get the late afternoon sun and watch as boats and kayaks went by.
The house came with some newer bikes to which we enjoyed riding through the quiet streets saying hi to all the neighbors. The Port Charlotte Beach Part was only a few minutes away and had a beautiful beach on the bay, park for the kids to play in and a pool and boat launch. We also visited the doggie beach in Venice (so much fun and lovely) which was 40 minutes away. Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda was a fun place to walk, shop and eat (approx 15 minutes away). Of course we visited Ft. Myers on a couple of occasions to shop and dine.
There are many good restaurants in the local areas as well. Linda has a guest book at the house which provides you some insight and information on restaurants and things to do in the area.
Overall we had a great time at this property. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, well equipped home in safe area of Florida.

We had a great time in the area. The home was nice and we would stay again.
Home was spacious, well maintained, clean and had a well equipped kitchen. Pool and Lanai and canal were wonderful........ this part made the experience for us really enjoyable. The owner Linda, was very fast and eager to fix a couple of things that went wrong. A plumbing problem was fixed immediately....... great customer service!
Yes we'd recommend this home, and we'll be back.
Port Charlotte is centrally located near many beautiful beaches and islands. It is home to many restaurants, close to the Gulf of Mexico and is a perfect departure point for day trips. Our home is conveniently located off I75 and US41. The primary airport is located in Fort Myers about 30 miles away and the secondary airport is Tampa International about 70 miles away. For a day trip visit the Everglades to ride the air boats or snorkel in the upper Keys. A drive to Key West or perhaps to the Florida theme parks such as Disney would require an overnight stay but is certainly worth the excursion. Or rent a boat in nearby Punta Gorda and spend the day watching the dolphins, rays, and other wildlife. To relax, play a round of golf, use our local community beach, tennis courts, pool, and fishing pier. Venture just across the bridge to Punta Gorda to watch a spectacular sunset and stroll through Fisherman's Village. Or just hang out in our heated pool. Very nice.
