If you are into running or walking, you are right by the Queens Savannah which is used to run around, stretch, or walk by the locals as well as visitors.

Or you can just sit down on a bench and drink some coconut water from a local vendor parked there with his truck.

There is a first class fitness center and TGI Friday's in the BP building by the West Queens Savannah.

You have many different restaurants around the area. From very expensive to moderate.

The Hilton Hotel, The Crown Plaza Hotel and Kapok Hotel are in walking distance.

The Presidential Palace and Prime Minister Office are around the Savannah. The Botanical Gardens and Empire Zoo are by the Savannah. In walking distance.

The American and German Embassy are around the corner from the House. The Roman Catholic Church is by the Savannah.

You guessed it: In walking distance. The Business district and POS Financial Center, in walking distance.

The Red House, Place of the government of T&T, is 10 minutes away. The Queens Oval, where the Cricket Test Matches are played, is in walking distance.

The Soccer Stadium is in walking distance.

In short, you are in the middle of it all.

As for Carnival time you could not get any closer to where the action is. The Calypso Tent has the competitions nightly in the Savannah.

Jenny on the Boulevard, a very popular place and my personal favorite, are a few minutes walking from the house.

A new Italian Restaurant is on the end of the block, a 5 minute walk. It is a little pricy, but has good food, nicely presented and good service. They have nice pasta dishes on the menu. Opposite that you have an Indian Restaurant and a Chinese Restaurant is on the other corner.

The two things you should have at least one time while you are in Trinidad: Roti and Doubles.

The place around the corner has about the best in town.

But you have to place your order before lunch, because they close in the afternoon.

A local mini super market in case you forgot to buy something that you need.

If you are attending a business meeting, conference in one of the big hotels, or have to be in Trinidad longer than a few days, you might want to rent a house, instead of a room with a mini bar.

This house is exactly as described, I stayed at this house for Carnival 2014, it was a group of 10 people, there was lots of room for all. The owners Lucy & Hendrick are great people very helpful always available to assist with any concerns. Eric Williams the taxi driver such a nice person very reliable and friendly "Big Up Eric".



This house is the perfect location for restaurants and entertainment. The savannah is across the street which is good for a walk or jog. also if you are playing mas this is the house to be, during carnival you can hear all the area music events from the porch, I would definitely recommend this house.

Hans is from Holland, Amsterdam and I am from Arima Trinidad.

We met in 1964 on the NY World Fair, when we were both working for Hilton International.

I opened the smoke oven in the Trinidad Hilton in 1962.

In 1996 I renovated the house with the intention of spending my retirement years with my husband in Trinidad.

However the best laid plans sometimes don't work out.

All our kids, 8 and grand children live all in the US.

We stayed in Westbury where we live now for 36 years.

The house was empty most of the time, only being occupied for short vacationds by the family.

Hans saw an article in Travel + Leisure Magazine in 2005, which was about renting a home instead of staying in a Hotel or Inn.

He contacted Home Away and signed up for a trial.

It worked out well.

We have been with Home Away since 2005.

I bought the house in 1954 because I needed a place close to Queens Hospital in POS for one of my sons who was very ill.

I had a restaurant at 85 Henry Street, when Hilton asked me to become their food consultant for the La Boucan Smoke Oven they wanted to open.

My reason for buying the place, is the same reason I give you:

Location. Location. Location.

In 1996 I renovated the house with the intention of spending my retirement years with my husband in Trinidad.

I walking distance of everything in POS.

Mals. Shops. Down Town. Football Stadium. Cricket Stadium.

You don't need a car to get around, you can walk it or take a cheap taxi that are passing by the Savannah all the time.

There is also a new and imporoved public bus transportation system.

You are close to the Ferry boat to Trinidad and the Water Taxi to San Fernando.

The rooms are a good seize and you have a high ceiling.

If you want privacy for a few hours you can find that inside the house.

The street is very quit after 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

The house is set up as a home and if you read the reviews, you see that mentioned several times.

Feeling safe is a great part of your vacation and Woodford Street gives you that security.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

The Photos could only tell how great the house is, but actually being there is even better. I've rented the house for the past 2 years during the summer. It is GREAT. The house is very centralized and close to everything. It's steps away from the American Embassy, Queens Park Oval, and Club Zen. Banks, Markets, Shops, Movies etc, are all 5 -10 mins away. It seemed like home away from home. I felt very comfortable and the area is very quite. The house is very clean and well kept.

FANTASTIC!

What can I say about this place?.... It's absolutely fantastic and definitely a home away from home. My friends and I had the pleasure of staying in both the front and back house for our carnival vacation and would certainly come back. The location is great. The Savannah is literally around the corner, you can hear the mas trucks going past and the steel pans beating from the house. There is a small convenience store on the next corner which sells cooked food and is open 24 hours. There's an Italian restaurant, bank and Mcdonald's on the road. Cipriani boulevard is the road parallell to woodford street and has bars and restaurants on it. TGI fridays is a 5 minute walk from the house. The supermarket is less than a 10 minute walk away and has a moneygram outlet (bonus!) The avenue, where all the clubs are, is a further 5 min walk from the supermarket. Basically everything is in within walking distance of this lovely home.

The house - the house is secure, at no point did we feel threatened or unsafe whilst in the house. The house is spacious, has a large dining and living room. all the rooms have at least one double bed in them. There are two bathrooms which is a bonus when living with other females! The kitchen is fully equipped, everything i would have at home is basically in the house.

The owners - Lucy and Hendrik are lovely people and even though i have never met them i consider them as friends. Any questions i asked were answered rapidly. They are very patient, friendly and accommodating people, They even organised a driver to pick us up from the airport. You can tell that they are professional from the care and attention they gave us.

The Caretaker - The caretaker, Anthony, lives onsite and is a lovely guy. He makes you feel comfortable and safe. Anything we needed help with, he was there for us. He's a great guy.

I would recommend everybody to stay here. I read a previous comment about furniture being old or the place needing revamping. I personally did not see anything that needed changing. It is not a hotel it is a home and I believe that all the furniture add a rustic and homely feel to this place. I had no problems with the owners or the house and will definitely be staying again! If I had to use one word to describe everything about this place, including the owners, driver and everything else it would be 'Perfect'.

WONDERFUL HOUSE IN GREAT LOCATION

This really is a wonderful house in a great location. Its right beside the Queen Savana Park and the American & German embassies. The house is very safe and is exactly as described. My wife and I stayed here for 11 nights and it exceeded our expectations. I especially liked how clean and safe the house was. We were able to wash and dry our clothes which was very handy in such a hot climate. I especially liked how well the wireless broadband worked and I had no trouble connecting my tablet to it. There is a tv in the living room and the ensuite bedroom which have plenty of channels. There is secure parking inside the front gate for a guests car. Anthony, the caretaker, lives behind the house and is only a call away if you need anything. I have no difficulty in highly recommending this house.

HOUSE NEEDS MANY UPDATES AND NEW APPLIANCES

We were there for 1 week -I'll start with the positive- the location was great with lots of eating places and the house itself is quite safe. The owners are very nice.

All the appliances in the house other than the washer and dryer needs to be replaced. The toaster oven, toaster, microwave, refrigerator needs to be replaced ASAP - they're ancient and do not function properly. The cooking range needs to be replaced as well although not as urgent as the other appliances mentioned. There is no dish washer.

The house interior is old and tired looking along with all the furniture. There is no AC in one bedroom only a fan..and yes you do need an AC in Trinidad! The master bedroom has an attached washroom but that too needs to be updated. The other small wash room needs some major updating.
The kitchen cupboards are falling apart and needs repair and a good clean up. Some of the cupboards had a lot of junk in them. The house interior needs to be painted, furniture replaced and given a good overall makeover. Would I go there again? Definitely not!

EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTIONS

This was our first trip to Trinidad and we were not sure what to expect.
Hendrik and Lucy made our trip extra special by providing a wonderful homestay experience. They provided us with a beautiful and comfortable home. The location was so convenient and everything was close by. I ventured to the Hi-Lo market several times, walked to the beautiful esplanade on the Savannah to watch some cricket matches with my grandson. We had a great time and I look forward to returning. I would definitely love to stay in their home again. Can't wait to visit again. Thanks so much Hendrik and Lucy.

GREAT LOCATION

My cousins, husband and myself stayed at the house on Woodford St. There was more than enough room and the house was clean, cool and safe. The location was great because you were in walking distance to restaurants and clubs. Cipriani Blvd. and Arapiata Ave have very diverse restaurants and dance clubs and you could walk to everything and be safe coming into the house at very late hours. The grocery store, Hi Lo, was a couple blocks away and it had everything you could possibly want. The only issue with the house was the the paint and decor were a little old and tired but otherwise it was great and comfortable. The owners were AWESOME they met us at the house even though we got in very late at night and walked us through everything. The wifi was always reliable and everything worked perfectly.
