PRIVATE BEACH, LOWER HERRING LAKE, BEAUTIFUL LAKE MICHIGAN, BEAUTIFUL HOME

This is my kids' favorite place to spend a week of their summer vacation! There is so much to do we always wish that we had another week to do it all. First of all, you could spend a week just around the property, swimming, building sandcastles, kayaking, biking, hiking and playing in the waves. However, we always have to take a trip into Frankfort for ice cream, visit the Cherry Bowl Drive-In theatre, plan a float trip down the Platte River, watch the sunset at Point Betsie, walk the Frankfort Pier, go to the Elberta Farmer's Market on Thursday mornings, and a visit to Gwen Frostic..phew! There are great restaurants in the area, too. Check out the Cherry Hut in Beulah, the delicious L'Chaim deli in Frankfort, and the yummy breakfast spot in Frankfort (right of M-22).

Even when the weather is not perfect you can go shopping in all the adorable shops in Frankfort, and the house is stocked with games for an old-fashioned game day!

The house is cozy and welcoming. The beach is beautiful. Fantanstic! Thank You for a great stay!!

I absolutely love this place! A smaller lake (2miles x 1.5miles) approximately but perfect for water skiing, wakeboarding and fishing. A nice new dock that we used for our rental boat right in front of the house. There was a great private beach for the kids to play on directly in front of the house that has all glass sliding doors up front. The house or "cabin" itself it cozy and clean. It has a "swiss chalet" feel to it. The lake is amazing! Perfect weather during our week and the water was warm enough to swim in everyday even with the baby. There was a big fire ring right on the beach and everynight we had a bonfire and a "star" party wiith somores. I liked having use of the kyaks and rowboat also for the kids, and we took them on a river float also and saved a couple of bucks. The house has everything you can imagine, in case you forget something don't worry there is probably one there.

The town of Frankfort is about 5 miles away and has everything you picture in a Norman Rockwell depiction. There are literally 5 Ice Cream Parlors that I ate at, confectioners, golf, resturants, pubs with incredible fried perch (Smokehouse and Villa Marine), live music, a hardware store, grocery store, drive up A&W, a lighthouse and pier to walk, public beach, etc. The town is on a harbor with the town of Elberta on the other side with a cool little bar called the Cabbage Shed that also had decent food and music. I loved going to town everymoring for fresh bakery goods or into Belah for fresh cherry products from the 90 year old Cherry Hut resturant. The best are the pies, cherry salsa, and cherry coffee with cherry carmel roll. There is a Farmer's market to get fresh stuff from almost everyday somewhere. We paid a charter fishing boat and caugh over 150lbs of King Salmon in Lake Michigan in about 4 hours. It was awsome and filled the freezer at home also. Lots of fishing everywhere - the house, the piers, charter, and the local rivers. Michigan likes to mark stuff with roadsigns now so get out of the car and take a look, we found places with no one around that were incredible slices of nature. So breathtaking, water everywhere, the world famous Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course about 4 miles away also, top notch!

Lots to do, our kids flew kites everyday right in front of the lake and played on the boats while we relaxed. Plenty at night between Frankfort and Beluah nightspots. This is small town USA and amazing there is still places like this coming from Los Angeles:)

This house was advertised as having four bedrooms...it didn't mention that one was a wide hallway at the top of the stairs. There is no water trampoline. The place is so secluded that the other activities are all 2+ hours away. The only thing to do was to fish and sit at the beach. Do not go here if you want to enjoy a large variety of activities.
