In town, there are numerous attractions and a visit is a must. Among them, Castillo De San Marcos, the Fountain of Youth, Potter's Wax Museum, Ripley's Believe it or Not, horse drawn carriage rides, Ghost Tours, and of course, the European charm of St. George Street with its shops and open air cafes. Downtown is also the location of many festivals and concerts held throughout the year. If you head west you'll see the beauty of the Intracoastal Waterway and St. John's River (one of the few in the world that flow north!), not to mention, for golf aficionados, the World Golf Village, with the World Golf Hall of Fame and Imax theater. Heading south (the drive is gorgeous in itself), there is Fort Matanzas, not as famous as the Castillo, but enthralling nonetheless as it involves a boat ride across the Matanzas River.
Marineland, the oldest theme park in Florida, is further south along A1A. And, finally heading east... well, you have what brings most here, the beautiful Atlantic Ocean!
Back to the house! This is truly a special place. Almost every room in the home has a complete view of the ocean, and most have an adjoining deck. With over 3,000 square feet of decks, a large swimming pool, an oceanfront gazebo, a large oceanfront yard, and an outside hot tub with an amazing view, this is the perfect vacation home for families or several couples.
This home has it all -- with all modern appliances, and almost every amenity you could want! Each bedroom is decorated in a different motif, from the tropical with king-size bed, to the aloha room, to the lighthouse room with coquina fireplace. Each bedroom has an outside oceanfront deck. The other two bedrooms feature twins with trundles -- one with easy access to the west sunset deck, and the other with access to the pool deck.
The living and dining areas are decorated in a casual Florida style (but not your typical Florida pastels!). Here you'll find the second coquina fireplace, coquina (ko-key-na) being a naturally occurring substance consisting of shells compressed in limestone. Our historic Castillo de San Marco is also made of coquina! Easy access to the outside with double sliding doors and direct ocean view are additional charms.
An outside gas grill and bar area make this an ideal home for entertaining!
Did I mention the beach? The beach was renourished in 2002 and is wide and sandy. Automobiles are not allowed and, best of all, you can walk directly from our yard onto the silky sand! There are no steps or walkovers, just you and the beach.
