RENT DOWNSTAIRS OR UPSTAIRS SEPARATELY OR TOGETHER Wonderful "old folly" house that has been remodeled with lots of love. Downstairs is 3 bedroom, 2 bath, spacious living and dining area, large kitchen and our favorite spot, the front covered porch that you can hang out on, enjoy the ocean breezes, watch the ocean and even take a nap. The upstairs, with it's outside separate entrance, is also 3 bedrooms 1 bath, spacious living and dining space with a great front deck that has retractable awning to shade you from the hot summer sun. Each unit has own washer/dryer and fully eqipped kitchen. Location is super, one block off center street and right across the street from the ocean. Each unit has it's own outside shower and back yard has picnic table and grill area. You can rent separately or together for large groups...Fun family house. We offer wireless internet, cable and linens with our rental, and have an awesome cleaning girl that keeps the house spotless.

About The Owner

My husband and I lived in Folly for 4 years and fell in love with the beauty and laid back feeling of Folly. We have since moved back to the hills of North Carolina, but wanted to keep a connection to Folly for us and our 5 children and 9 grandchildren. We had a smaller rental, Daffodil Cottages, that we rent, but needed a larger space for our huge crew. We found this vintage beach house, loved the location and the character it had, mess that it was. For almost a year, we and our very hard working children, turned the house into a fun place for our family to gather and also a great rental. Originally, the house was a single family house, but somewhere along the line, has been turned into two separate units, each with 3 bedrooms. It makes it nice when the whole family goes because we have room to spread out with 6 bedrooms, 3 bath, each having it's own kitchen and laundry...giving a bit of "space" for everyone. Also, if just a few want to go, we can pick either up or down, and rent the other space. It was perfect for us and also a unique rental space that thought it would give some options to tenants.

What makes this house unique

The location of the house was a large part of what we loved about this house. It is only 1 block off center street, so you can walk to downtown folly, the pier and most anything on the island in just a few short minutes. You can see the ocean from both units, inside as well as out. To be cooking in the kitchen downstairs and gaze out to the ocean is just great. Even though we have remodeled, the house still has a "vintage" feel of an old beach house, which appeals to me as an antique dealer. The front porch downstairs and the deck upstairs also was such a plus for us. It is such fun to hang out on either porch and watch the comings and goings of all the "folly" color....and yell "wrong way" to all the cars that go the wrong way down our street. Bert's Market is the street behind us, (a local folly landmark and market), and every morning we cut through the back yard and go get our free coffee and eggroll if my little granddaughters are with me. Such a treat!!

We loved staying at the Sea Spot during labor day weekend 2012! Gail was so nice to work with and very accommodating. Four of us (two couples) stayed in the top unit and it was perfect sized for our needs. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to prepare food and snacks for the beach. We loved sitting out on the balcony overlooking the street with ocean views. The property is in the perfect location, right across from the beach and walking distance to all the restaurants and bars. We had such a great time and can't wait to return again next year.

Four Happy Ladies

What a wonderful, cozy house. I took pictures of all the decor. I noticed something new each day. You have a flair for decorating, and so does my sister. She loved all your things and pictures. We cooked on the deck and in the kitchen, and found all the pots and pans we needed. The ceiling fans were nice, and the whole downstairs was so roomy. We loved having our coffee on the front porch, and like you say, we enjoyed the Folly Beach color. The beach was very close. We loved the pier, and Locklears. Taco Boy was great. We did not like the Sandbar, on the river. Everything was so clean and comfy.
It's wonderful that you can be in two great places, N.C. hills and the beach. I live near the foothills, and Lake Lure is a favorite in our area. It's so nice that Folly beach is just a few hours drive. My aunt had a little house there long ago, and we tried to remember where it was so we could ride by there but no luck. We were just kids then. We are getting old now. We will be back.

Amazing stay

We stayed upstairs 5 days in May this year - We just loved our stay there!!! The house is beautifully decorated, you can feel that the owner loves her house and take a great care of it. It is not one of those rental properties that are impersonal and commonplace! Every detail in this house is charming and welcoming! The terrace upstairs has a beautiful view on the beach, even if it is not completely in front of it, you can still have your breakfast looking at the sea!
The location is really convenient, close to the beach, restaurants, small convenience store, and only 15 mins from Charleston. The owner, Gail, is really nice and helpful and easy to reach if needed.
We were 4 generations in the house, my grand mother (84), my mother, me and my 2 kids, and we all really loved it and highly recommend it.

My mother and I stayed in the downstairs unit in mid January (not sure if I have the above date right...don't have my calendar with me!). Gail was great to work with and made it so easy even though we decided last minute to have a little getaway at Folly Beach. We only used two of the bedrooms, but the place was just perfect for us. The home has wonderful character with nice hardwood floors, tall ceilings and the owners have charmingly decorated it. It was very comfortable, clean and a joy to be in. We stayed in and ordered carryout or cooked in the nice kitchen most nights as I had my little dog with us. He loved it too...especially sitting on the big front porch watching Folly life pass by :-) The beach is across the street diagonally and I could hear the waves from the front bedroom which was lovely. Thank you Gail, for a lovely stay. We hope to return again soon with more of our family. Also...while we were there, they were making some improvements to the already pretty backyard. There is also an outdoor shower on the side of the house which is a nice (and cute!) touch. A wonderful place to relax at Folly Beach.
A couple of restaurant tips...we enjoyed the Lost Dog Cafe for lunch and Mondo's on James Island.
