Character: The house is welcoming, easy, and many guests have said it is charming. We have this place because our grandchildren are a street over, so furniture is accomodating and children are very very welcome. The real draw is the enclosed backyard with a garden I will plant with veggies again next spring so the summer people can have tomatoes and peas. We come spring and fall so I'll plant potatoes for us to dig next year. Thanks to our daughter, we have a GOLD membership to the Backyard Habitat program of native plants. So there are ferns, oregon grape, evergreen huckleberry and more tucked in around the edges. There are a couple of little tables, and numbers of chairs. Our neighbors have sheds backed up to our line so there is surprising privacy. We love it here.
Animals: A number of people have brought their dogs or cats here. We always ask that they use Frontline or something similar and we have had no complaints from anyone. I would think we would hear about it if there were a problem.
I don’t know where to leave feedback about the fantastic experience we had at North Jersey. The website doesn’t appear to have an area for feedback, though there is loads of it from previous renters. Please include mine:
We had an amazing stay at N Jersey! That house totally defines what “HomeAway” is about. We walked in and immediately felt at home. Everything was the perfect size, the beds were comfortable, the wifi password was clearly displayed, and everything we needed in the kitchen was available for use. They even had a laundry room with folding table. Jinette and Betsy were very accommodating when we had questions prior to our arrival, and very friendly with advice about what to do in the area.
And with regard to the area itself, I had no idea how adorable St. Johns was! It’s like a cute little town of its own, totally self contained. There is a Grocery Outlet, a Starbucks, an independent café called Anna Bananas, any number bars and pubs if that’s your thing. There is a great thrift shop just off the main drag, a record store, a Burgerville…anything you need really. And just up the road is a small scale Fred Meyer, with a larger version a few miles east. For the outdoor lovers, St. Johns is very close to hiking and walking trails, and is a great place to tool around on your bike.
I really recommend this rental. It’s very cozy and warm in winter, and with that sweet little backyard and homey porch, I’d bet it’s a great place to chill in summer.
Other Activities: Science Museum downtown. Wonderful walking in Forest Park
