Fishing and Seafood in the area::
Carrabelle area is known for its great salt and freshwater fishing. The Carrabelle River, New River, and Crooked River offer great fishing and are right here in town. The flats in St. George Sound and Apalachicola Bay are great for trout and redfish and it doesn't take long to get offshore for the big ones. If you love seafood this is the place. The famous Apalachicola oysters are found here. Stop at any of the great restaurants serving these delicious oysters or buy a bag and shuck them yourselves. July, August, and early September is scalloping for the whole family. In addition, there is always of abundance of fresh shrimp and fish.
St. George, Apalachicola, Carrabelle:
St. George Island is only only 15 minutes away and has one of the most beautiful and pristine beaches in the country. There is also great surf fishing, boat rentals, scooter rentals, bike rentals, and shopping. Carrabelle Beach is only about 3 miles away. It also has a beautiful white sand beach and a great place for swimming, sunbathing, fishing, and shelling. St. James Bay Golf Course is just 6 miles East of Carrabelle. This is a new world class course and offers a great restaurant and golf shop. To the west of Carrabelle is the historic town of Apalachicola offering lots of artist hand crafts, antiques, and great seafood.
