The Home is located east of A1A Beach Blvd (Not oceanfront but very close) just three houses back from the Beach on a quiet street. It is on a section of Saint Augustine Beach that does not allow driving on the Beach so it is less crowded and more private. The House is approximately 50 yards from the Beach. We do allow dogs and St Augustine Beach Beach is very dog friendly.
It is a short walk to the fishing pier and 14 cafes and restaurants are within walking distance.
10 minute drive to historic downtown Saint Augustine and the areas Attractions.
This was originally our family home. When we moved to a larger home we kept it as a rental since it is so close to the beach. Four years ago we converted it to a short term vacation rental. We own three gift shops in Saint Augustine so having a Vacation rental is a good fit for us since we are have been in the Tourism business for 30 years. We enjoy sharing our knowledge and experience of the area with our guests.
The Owner purchased this house in 1984
We walked up to the beach on Sunday and were married at our favorite place in Florida. Just love St Augustine and this little house. It's perfect and you will want for nothing. Walk to the beach and a short drive downtown make it the best vacation ever. Our dogs loved it as well. We stayed here in 2009 and again last week, simply loved it. Will be making this our annual anniversary vacation house for sure!!
We stayed in the 2 bedroom house over New Years. St. Augustine was very crowded over the holiday so it was nice to have a very roomy, private home to escape to that was quiet and a short walk to an uncrowded beach. The second bathroom is in the garage with a sink and stool. Turned out to be very convenient. The first few days were very nice and we enjoyed the hot tub on the large patio. The kitchen is well equipped including a crock pot, plenty of knives, which you don't always find in a vacation rental. 3 TV's. The closed in front porch was a relaxing retreat to sit and read on a rainy day. Plenty of fluffy towels. We were very short on cloths hangers in the closets. The owners were very helpful and available. I would definitely return.
Sunburst Cottage is a perfect beach house for a family vacation to St. Augustine Beach. It has all your the basic comforts on the inside, while providing easy access to all that the area offers. The house sits on a quiet street that dead-ends at the beach just a half a block away, and it's within walking distance to many food options (Cafe 11 is just across the street and has great breakfasts and salads). You can even walk to Mini-Golf to top off an evening.
In addition to restaurants, grocery stores and other conveniences are all close by. Historic St. Augustine is just a 10 minute drive...try stress-free parking at the park just before the bridge, and enjoy a beautiful walk over to good food, sites, and shops.
The house itself provides a comfortable base for the beautiful beach, which, just like the cottage, is very dog friendly. The owners provide great support and are very easy to work with. My only complaint would be that I was so comfortable at the house and location that I didn't make it into the grand, old city as much as I had hoped to. We look forward to returning in the future.
My family, including two younger teens, enjoyed the week and SunBurst cottage. Both sets of grandparents came down at different times for a few days, and the house was perfect. Next time, I will not worry about bringing beach chairs for the beach, and the bikes were a big plus as we rode to Starbucks and the surrounding area / neighborhoods each morning. Walking to dinner is a major bonus. The market on Wednesday at the pier was really a nice diversion. If you like to cook while on vacation, wait till Wednesday AM to get some fresh veggies, breads, and fish from locals. We loved having a garage to park (shade and piece of mind) and really wanted for nothing. Michael likes to check in before you arrive, which adds a personal touch. We definitely enjoyed the cottage, and St. Augustine Beach. We'll definitely return in the future!
The size of the cottage was great for our family of 3, and could have easily handled a 4th. The beds were comfortable and everything in good working order. We enjoyed the hot tub and patio, and made good use of the DVD player. We were especially pleased with the location. There are some good shops and restaurants within a very easy walking distance, and the beach is just steps away. The beach is so wide here that it is actually further from the edge of the beach to the water, than it is from the house to the edge of the beach. :) It was a bit cool out for swimming, but we enjoyed sitting in the sun with toes in the sand. And we enjoyed St. Augustine as much as ever -- we checked out the new Colonial Quarters that just opened in March, which we think will grow to be quite a nice family attraction. Also went to Ripley's this time, which I did not think I would enjoy a whole lot based on having been to the one in Gatlinburg a few times, but they had some impressive things here other than the usual creepy oddities. We would definitely stay in this cottage again. Be aware this is not a hardwood/granite/stainless steel house -- it is a comfortable home. I liked the terrazzo floors, and loved the decor! My only comment, the bathroom could use some TLC, but this house is definitely worth the very reasonable price. Thanks for a great vacation.
spent Dec 15 to Jan 31, 2013 at Sunburst. Listing photos accurately reflect property. Owner was helpful in answering questions. Addressed washer maintenance issue immediately and problem fixed same day. Made special trip to cottage to try to repair cable that next door neighbor moving truck had snapped. The kitchen was more than amply furnished with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, silverware, utensils. There was nothing we needed to purchase to cook while we were there except food! Owner provides 2 bicycles as well as beach chairs. The garage is a real plus. Cottage is approx 2 minute easy walk to the beach. Location of property is super. Close to several great restaurants on beach blvd. Publix shopping center (with restaurants) is a couple miles up the road for grocieries. Florida room was a real plus for me as I set my office up there and being able to keep the office "separate" from the living area was a perfect arrangement. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. Weather was PERFECT and so was the cottage. Thank you Michael. We hope to be able to return.
