|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
Located just minutes from Chapel Hill/UNC/Carrboro relax at our private wooded property where you will enjoy the serenity of quiet woods and beautiful boulder outcroppings. Our second floor loft, which requires a stair climb, has a full kitchen complete with all the equipment needed to prepare a gourmet meal. The bedroom has a large closet and a queen-sized bed, dresser and two nightstands. All linens are provided in both the bedroom and bath. New wood floors were installed October 2010. New kitchen flooring and bedroom carpet were installed Feb. 2014.
Coffee/Tea, fruit, milk, OJ, light snacks, light breakfast items and laundry supplies will be provided. Enjoy our country garden, hen house and huge fire-pit perfect for roasting marshmallows and stargazing. The balcony is furnished with a bistro set for alfresco dining and an iron love seat glider.
There is plenty of wildlife to enjoy as we often have deer, fox, hawks, frogs and owls visit our yard. Your well-behaved and friendly dog may come and enjoy our dog Molly, our three acres of woods and meadow, perfect for hours of running and playing.
A washer and dryer allows you to pack light and our full kitchen allows quiet evenings spent in, if desired. Many fabulous restaurants and shopping are within just a few minutes drive. Easy access to UNC campus, the Dean Dome, Kenan Stadium, Weaver Street Market, Research Triangle Park and University Lake. We are an easy 40 minute drive from RDU airport.
If you are a smoker, our loft may not be the perfect spot for your visit to Chapel Hill. There is no smoking allowed anywhere on my property and in deference to my neighbors, I ask that you do not smoke until you have completely left the surrounding properties.
Please Note: Our loft is on the second floor and requires climbing a full set of stairs.
Please call for rates during graduation and orientation weekends.
A pet fee of $50.00 per pet will be collected upon check in.
While our loft will sleep four if necessary, it's really best for two adults and two young children. Please call for details regarding our set up and our policy and rates for occupancy of more than two.
My husband and I, and our 2 kids moved to Chapel Hill, from Long Island, NY in May of 2008. We immediately fell in love with the charm of Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Its sense of community, its commitment to the environment and green-spaces. We especially love the scenic drive to our property just minutes from Carrboro and Chapel Hill. The rolling hills, meadows, farms and woods captivated us...and we couldn't imagine ourselves anywhere else but Carolina!
Heather purchased this apartment in 2008
We love going to Weaver Street Market on Sunday mornings for breakfast and music. We LOVE watching our sporting events at Tylers and then having Maple View Farms icecream afterwards! YUM
Heather, Molly, Rooster, Chickens, Rabbits, et al.,
We returned with Lucy [ruff-ruff] and felt right at home again. The provision were plentiful, the towels were thirsty, the room was ample and Molly's loving was ever present.
Thank you for making our stay comfortable, friendly and clean. You thought of everything! We appreciate all of your homey touches, and look forward to another stay in the near future.
We had a wonderful stay at this loft. It was perfect for our family of 3. Beautiful, peaceful location and the owners couldn't have been more accommodating. Heather and her family made us feel at home and we loved all the personal touches including setting up the sofa bed for our daughter since we would be arriving late, having a few things for us to eat for breakfast, and the fresh eggs from their chickens. She provides you with a list of local restaurants and activities that we used as our guide and were not disappointed. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
We stayed for a week with our dog while house hunting in the area. Idyllic setting, super location, very close to Chapel Hill and not far from Durham, Raleigh, etc. Loft apartment great, breakfast goodies (apples, bananas, blackberries, orange juice) fantastic! Heather is a wonderful landlord/host (Don also). We would enthusiastically recommend it.
This is our third stay at Emmett Cottage and we love it here. Close to wonderful restaurants in Chapel Hill and our two dogs just love it as well. The loft is clean and comfortable and the owners couldn't be more accommodating. Looking forward to our next visit. Thanks for another great vacation.
i am late in providing a review for Emmett South Cottage. I stayed here two years in a row, with my return trip a longer duration.
i can't add much to existing reviews, they are not lying to you. I will say that the loft is very near Southern Village, a very nice planned community. There is a low-difficulty walking trail of Southern Village Community Park that I took advantage of every morning (the trail continues north of SV).
This place will soothe yoir soul!
Lovely property. We felt very comfortable and at home. Quite location and Molly and the chickens were a welcome addition.
Comfortable cottage in the woods. A giant bed and quiet nights. A view of a meadow and woods. Deer. Molly, best dog ever. You get here from the heart of Chapel Hill driving just a few minutes on a hilly country road, past pastures and horses and old country houses into a private world. Weaver Street Market and funky Carrborro nearby or far away--your choice.
