Photos and Description of the Kure Beach vacation townhome rental
3BR Oceanfront Vacation Rental Kure Beach, North Carolina USA

If you like beaches the way they are meant to be -- quiet, serene and beautiful -- then come visit our Seaside Escape at Kure Beach. Our three-bedroom/two-bath townhouse is a two-story unit overlooking the Atlantic oceanfront.

Wake up in the master bedroom with the sunrise, and gaze out through French doors at the sand and waves crashing in on the shore -- right from your bed. Enjoy your oceanfront views from the porch swing and rockers on the upstairs deck, or from the first-floor covered porch. In both places the ocean breeze makes the climate just perfect.

When you come inside from the beach, you'll feel like you never left. A classic nautical theme can be found throughout the house. From the murals on the walls to the waves, fish, and shells, you'll find the decor is nothing less than soothing and inviting.

You may be on vacation, but you'll feel like you're at home. We offer a fully-equipped kitchen with all the major/minor appliances.

There is cable TV, a VCR, a CD player, and a washer/dryer. You'll be able to relax or entertain -- whatever you choose.

As for local activities, you'll find much to do. Choose from the newly expanded and renovated Aquarium at Historic Fort Fisher, to the Cape Fear Museum. Or enjoy something as simple as taking in a movie at Carolina Beach Cinemas. Either way, you'll be 'covered' on those rainy days.

If you tire of fishing or swimming, you'll be conveniently located right between the two historic towns of Wilmington and Southport. Wilmington is just 16 miles north. There you can visit the U.S.S. North Carolina Battleship (maybe even catch an old flick on the deck one evening). Or you can take a stroll down the beautiful waterfront streets for an endless choice of shopping and dining.

You can hop on a short ferry just six miles south, to go to the quaint town of Southport.

You'll probably recognize the town from such films as 'I Know What You Did Last Summer', 'Matlock', or the more recent 'Domestic Disturbance'. If you're a movie buff, take a tour of the local Screen Gem Studios, and see where many movies have been made -- and where 'Dawson's Creek' is taped.

Worried about what to do with the kids? Take them to Jungle Rapids to enjoy the water park, go-carts, laser tag, and miniature golf. You'll not want to miss the zoo either. Tote-em-in Zoo has animals ranging from the ones you'd like to pet to the ones that you know to stay away from!

If you really like amusement parks, take a day trip to busy Myrtle Beach and go to the Pavilion (about an hour and half away). While there, check out The Dixie Stampede, The Alabama Theatre, Ripley's Believe It or Not and Broadway at the Beach. Or just stroll the boardwalk. Then come home to your quiet beachfront town.

For golf enthusiasts, there are several local courses (some even championship) to challenge your golfing skills.

And don't forget all the shopping, dining, and sightseeing!

With the warmer temperatures in prime season and the mild temperatures in the off season, and with all the area attractions and friendly local residents, you'll find our townhouse a great vacation spot year-round.

About Robyn

We are local owners! We bought this property in 2001 while we were looking for a place to vacation for ourselves. We fell in love with the location and the appeal of owning a home on the beach. Since then we have also moved to Kure Beach and are raising our children here (2 girls and a boy). We love Pleasure Island and the small town community feeling it offers. We are also Mortgage Brokers and can help you fulfill your dream of owning your own Seaside Escape!

We are thrilled to be able to share our 2nd home on the beach with you and hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do! Best of all, if you need anything we are minutes away with a phone call.

Robyn purchased this townhome in 2001
Why Robyn chose Kure Beach

I grew up vacationing in Myrtle Beach, SC and my husband at Nags Head, NC. We found Kure Beach to be a wonderful alternative! It is located on an island about 11 miles long and consists of three small towns Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Historic Fort Fisher. It is not the commercialized or tourist attracting town of Myrtle Beach. (We love to visit there but make it a day trip) Kure Beach consists mostly of cottages which are 2nd homes or primary residences.

There are lots of wonderful restaurants, shopping and local activities offered year round (you should check out the events section of www.pleasureislandchamber.org for more info).

This property has private parking, spectacular views, and nice size rooms. One of it's best features is that it's ground level (4 steps up and you're in the door). You won't find a better view, cleaner property, or more homey getaway!

What makes this townhome unique

Here on the island we enjoy driving out to the north end of Carolina Beach (Freeman Park) and camping out on the beach. We love all the activities offered at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk in the summer: charter fishing tours, party boat tours, family movies by the lake, paddle boating, summer only amuzment park, surf lessons, beach bingo, fireworks and world famous doughnuts.

We also like visiting the aquarium and Historic Fort Fisher, and riding our bikes onto the ferry and over to the little town of Southport. We can't believe we actually live here and get to enjoy this all year!

There is always some kind of small town festival, farmers market, concert, fishing tournament or local race happening on this island - but it is never crowded. One of the secret advantages of this island is a back road (Dow Rd) which runs along the government owned property lines that allows you to drive from practically one end of the island to the other at 55mph. If you know about this little local secret, traffic is never a problem. Check out the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce's website for local events and happenings. www.pleasureislandchamber.org They don't call it 'Pleasure Island' for nothing!

Lazy Week

5 of 5
Submitted: June 27, 2008 Stayed: May 2008
My friends and I recently stayed at the wonderful "Seaside Escape." The view was magnificent. Upon walking through the front door, I felt relaxed and at home. Much to our surprise, we found everything needed for a day at the beach on the back porch. What a picture we made, three teenage girls, building sandcastles like toddlers! Although we had planned activites everyday of our week long trip, we spent most of our time sitting on the beach or in the rocking chairs on the back porch, watching the waves breaking. The home was spotless and, surprisingly, the description was perfect. Everything that was stated on the webpage was found in the home. The paintings found on the wall and the furniture chosen to decorate the home, gave the place a beachy atmosphere. Saving our luggage, we did come across board games in one of the upstairs closets. Ecstatic, we pulled one down and played after dinner that night as the storm rolled in. On the weekends the beach was not as crowded as either of us would have anticipated and during the week it was empty. We ordered pizza from Michelanglo's on our first night. It was edible, but disappointing to anyone who was raised on Pizza Hut. We did drive up to Wrightsville Beach to do some shopping and ate at the South Beach Grill. It was fantastic, as was King Neptune's. I recommend trying the Jamaican Chicken at King Neptune's, unless you are not one for spicy eatings. In Carolina Beach, which is only about ten minutes from the townhouse, there is a grocery store to supply you with all of your food needs, as well as a movie rental business. Wings, a surf shop, can also be found in Carolina Beach. This is where we did most of our souvenir shopping for ourselves, family, and friends. Everyone that we ran into were extremely nice, as was the owners of the townhouse. Throughout the week, they called to check up on us and make sure that everything was absolutely perfect. The only downside I found was the absence of a DVD player. A VCR is supplied, but in an age when VCR tapes have become arcaic, having one is almost pointless. Especially when the movie rental businesses are beginning to only carry DVDs. Other than that, our stay was magnificent. Each and everyone of us would recommend this vacation spot to all of our friends and families. I would certainly recommend it to all of you reading this at the moment. Lastly, I would like to thank the owners for providing us with a memorable trip. We will talk about it for years to come.

Family Holiday

A lovely property, ideally located. My family had a great time playing the beach and exploring the local area. Weather was fantastic and the property was everything that had been promised. Location was wonderful, especially for a family with young children - how nice not to have to carry sand toys, chairs too far. The sand toys provided by the owners were thoroughly enjoyed every day. We hope to return again soon.

This beautiful oceanfront home was completely perfect. It is beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable. There is absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. Our hosts were wonderful and I would highly recommend this peaceful and relaxing home to anyone looking for a great beach experience. The view is spectacular, probably the best of any beach house I've stayed in. Kure Beach is quaint and adorable, and we can't wait to come back and stay at the "Seaside Escape" again!
