BUILDING AMENITIES: 4 to 5-minute walk to gondola, one of the more exclusive buildings (less congestion during peak seasons), 2 high-speed elevators service 91 units, heated parking garage, free wireless internet, eight-person hot tub, year-round heated pool, steam room, fitness facilities, recreation room, outdoor fire pit, gas grill, ski lockers, coin-operated washers and dryers, location: River Run Village.
ENHANCED GUEST SERVICE: Rest assured that this home away from home is professionally managed. We provide cleaning services, regular maintenance, lock-out service and 24/7 emergency call service.
FEES & TAXES: Taxes and fees are not included in the posted nightly rate. Unlike many of our competitors that build their fees into the nightly rate, we will send you a quote with the breakdown of all costs.
GUARANTEED BEST PRICE: If you find a better deal on a comparable property, then provide us with clear evidence and we will beat the deal by 10%.
DISCOUNTS YOU WILL USE: As a guest of Summit County Mountain Retreats, you can take advantage of discounts on an array of services including ski rentals, ground transportation, bike rentals, horseback riding and much more. Let us know during the booking process, and we'll make sure you have what you need.
WATCH OUT FOR GIMMICKS: Don’t be fooled when someone offers discounted lift tickets. Discounts on lift tickets are all the same as long as you do not buy at the ticket window. Buy your discounted lift tickets from the kiosk at the grocery store or online. Kids Ski Free is another gimmick designed to make guests believe they’re getting a deal when in reality they’re paying higher nightly rates and an “amenities fee.” When you do the math on total cost of stay it turns out it’s not a deal at all.
Very nice place. Upper middle of the road place. The under ground parking and building amenities were a big plus for the family after skiing.
We recently stayed in the Expedition Station for our first family ski trip. The directions to pick up the keys and get to the condo were easy to follow and we had no problems finding our way into Keystone. The location was perfect: just about a block to the River Run rental shop and ski school, and about two blocks to the gondola. The condo was small but cozy. Our family of four had plenty of room to relax after a day on the slopes - which we could see right outside our window. As mentioned in an earlier review, the layout of the second bathroom was a little strange: in order to take a private shower, no one else could be in the bedroom. Our teenagers simply took turns but for a family with small children, it probably wouldn't be a problem at all.
The kitchen had all the plates, cooking pots and utensils needed and there were plenty of filters for the coffee pot. There's even a large slow cooker!! We had no problem with the dishwasher or any of the drains....all in all an excellent VRBO experience.
This Expedition Station condo was perfectly located in Keystone Village. With the underground parking and the very well appointed condo, how can you go wrong? We had read the reviews and knew the location. It could not have been a better fit for our foursome in terms of price, convenience, size and comfort.
Although this property does have features that were good for our family, like the bunk beds and location to gondola, it also had problems that really need to be addressed.
The dishwasher was broken. When we arrived it was full of standing, smelly water. The maintenance guy responded quickly, however he did tell us the dishwasher had been repaired quite a few times, and was really in the need of bigger repair work. He said he would come back the next day, but did not. Later in the week I called again. They sent another repair technician. He "fixed" the dishwasher, and the next day it was full of icky water again.
Problem #2. The heat. We kept the thermostat at the lowest possible temperature, 41 degrees. The heat still was coming on and in the afternoon we had to open doors because it was too warm. Nights were cooler, and we enjoyed getting up and starting the fireplace. However because of the heat, it warmed up quickly in the unit.
Other little nuances: Bathroom sink drained really slow, hot tub was not hot, fridge froze everything, even when I had it turned down, master bed has a broken box spring on the right side, and the living room couch is very saggy and uncomfortable.
Overall, I feel this unit needs some TLC before going back into the rental pool.
