Huddleston Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Carming, tranquil cabin with breathtaking views EASY ACCESSE TO WATER,

We book Friday to Friday in July and August. Two night minimums April thru June and September thru November. We offer kayaks for rent and a two person canoe for $75.00 each.

Welcome to Cedar Key Village at Smith Mountain Lake. This spectacular all Cedar Cabin is located on beautiful and is one of eleven homes nestled in a secluded no wake cove. We also own the larger house in the community which sleeps 6. See 212765 if you would like to book a larger family of friend vacation. The resort is perfect for large reunions as several other cabins are available for rent as well.

Because the cove is “no wake” you can swim, kayak or canoe without being disturbed by jet skies and motor boats, a rarity on the lake. We are only 500’ to the entrance to the main channel so you don’t have go far before you can produce a wake. The cove is surrounded by a 2000 acre wildlife mountainous nature preserve so your views are of deep woods, silhouetted by Smith Mountain and its surrounding mountains. Smith Mountain Lake has 22,000 acres of clean water and has 500 miles of shoreline. There is a mile long drive to reach our cabin that is just magical. It is deeply wooded with an abundance of hardwoods on both sides. Once you have made this turn on our lane, you will be delighted with the serine, natural beauty that surrounds our home. The views are amazing from the cabin! Everywhere you look, you see beautiful Smith Mountain, undeveloped woods and the lake.

We offer easy access to the lake either by driving or walking the road which leads to the waterfront or you can take the walkway directly to the lake. The walkway has beautiful all season gardens on either side with well over 150 plantings. You will also enjoy the gardens sitting on your deck and the abundance of color it offers!

We welcome up to 4 Guests at our lovely one level living cedar cabin. The Cabin features 2 Bedrooms and 1 full Bathroom with shower. We just renovated the bath and the kitchen with all new appliances. A six foot picture window in the master bedroom provides magical views of the water and mountains. Imagine breakfast in bed enjoying the awesome beauty. It has a charming dining room area adjoined by a living room which leads out to an over sized deck. The deck has a yesteryear glider and beautiful new wicker table and chairs. We put in a new kitchen in 2012 with tiled back splash adding even more to the charm of the cabin. In 2012, we purchased all new leather sofa and chair, both recline and the chair also rocks. You will love the comfort of the furniture throughout the house and on the deck. New beds were purchased in 2012 as well and we refinished the hardwood flooring throughout.

The home has central air and heat. We offer satellite television with XM radio channels We also offer free internet access. There is a fully stocked kitchen with dishes, pots & pans, toaster, coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and oven/stove. Also enjoy cooking outside with a charcoal outdoor grill. We provide a multitude of herbs for your use.

Please bring with you, sheets, towels, fishing gear and fishing license, toiletry items- shampoo etc., sunscreen, golf clubs, water floating rafts and life jackets. We will provide the linens and towels for a $50.00 fee.

Our no wake 60 acres cove is famous for its abundance and variety of fish. It is where the strippers spawn every year and fisherman catch bass, muskies and cat fish right off our docks. You will see an exciting array of wild life including eagles, owls, ospreys, humming birds, wild turkey and of course deer but we also have several albino deer which are spectacular to see if you are lucky.

Ideally located in southwest Virginia's mountain foothills, the beauties of landscape, mountains and lake provide perfect tranquility for your vacation holiday. Each season offers delights for the senses. Spring brings beautiful mountain laurels, azaleas, and dogwoods. Summers are lush with the aroma of heavy woods and an array of flower blossoms. Crape myrtles surround our property in late summer bursting our gardens with a variety of color. Autumn paints the landscape in burning brush strokes of red, gold, and orange. Each season is unique. Each a part of the beauty that surrounds our Cabin.

Quiet, serene, beautiful -- a fresh adventure in the leisure life awaits you. Pick your pleasure. Maybe it's a romantic winter weekend. Or a family designed dip into summer water sports. An autumn escape to see Smith Mountain on fire with ever changing colors. Or spring's first battle with the bass and muskies. No matter, you will find them all!

We also offer a great golf discount package… 50%

off on green fees at Mariners Landing, a Robert T. Jones golf course which is just ten minutes away! Lots of great restaurants are also within ten minutes as is the state park which offers hiking trails, day activities for children, sandy beach, boating, picnic areas and night entertainment in the summer.

We know you will love our cabin and our charming resort community. Please see the plat of our community under the map section and or Google earth our address which is 1023 Cedar Key Lane, Huddleston, Va.

We are located within a day's drive of major southern and northern cities, and are accessible by Smith Mountain Lake Airport's 3,000-foot paved landing strip.

About Alicia Yowell

We are both retired and loving it! We were the original developers of Cedar Key. We purchased it in 1983 when it was a operated as resort since the 1970's. We have loved Cedar Key and have been an active member to maintain its beauty and serenity.

My husband worked for the Farm Credit Administration for over 30 years as its Chief Financial Analyst. I was a social worker for years in the District and then worked as a realtor for 22 years in Northern Virginia. We have two wonderful adult children who love Cedar Key. We made wonderful memories here as I know you will.

Alicia Yowell purchased this cabin in 1983

Why Alicia Yowell chose Huddleston

Amazing views of the lake and mountains surrounded by deep woods. There are very few homes on the lake that have such a beautiful view. The gardens in front of the cabin are simply lovely. My husband worked hard for four years to create this magic for you! The all cedar cabin is very well maintained and always spotlessly clean. Read the reviews, everyone just loves it. It is simply charming and inviting. You will not want your vacation to end.

What makes this cabin unique

Over sized deck

No wake cove, but only two foot ball fields to the open water

Easy access to the water front, even drive to your dock

Semi- shared dock with boat slip in deep water

Beautiful all season gardens lake side that is simply amazing

Charming, one mile walk on our country road, surrounded by a hardwood forest.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed our staty at the cottage. It is a great peaceful getaway from the world of work!Unfortunetely, it rained and went down to the 60's for the first 3 days. However, it warmed up quickly and we fished, swam, boated and water skied. The Lake and scenery is spectacular. This is on of the most relazing vacations I have ever had. Hope you all enjoy it as much as we did

A great get away!

This cabin was delightful! So comfortable and cozy and homey! The view was spectacular. The deck is a wonderful place to breathe in peace and to enjoy nature. The garden truly was unbelievable! A haven! It alone is a must see! And there are 2 chairs down about halfway to the lake in the middle of the garden that we spent most our time. We had a great time using the kayaks! It was a wonderful weekend and wish we had more time!

The cabin was adorable and well stocked with pots and pans. I was fortunate enough to meet the owners who were so nice and knowledgeable of the area. The landscaping was so beautiful and we were lucky everything was still in bloom. Got some lovely pictures. Our sons came down for the weekend and had a blast. At night the stars are amazing. Will go back again. Rent the kayaks so worth it.

This house has absolutely the best view on the lake!! and is located in the most beautiful cove on the lake. Everything you need for a great lake side vacation is provided!! Most importantly, comfortable furniture, great cell phone coverage, and a good quality coffee pot. Things you usually have to give up, but not here. I will be a returning guest for sure!!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the wonderful review. We are so glad you loved the cabin and our community. My husband really appreciated your conversation with him about his garden in front of the cabin. He worked hard on it and now the fruits of his labor are showing. His greatest compliment was your husband's comment that he did not know what to look at, the garden, the lake or the mountain! So glad you will be returning. The Yowell's

A great choice!

The cabin was well-maintained and as advertised - just the right size for me and my husband, as well as some family who visited during the day. The owner is very personable and customer service oriented - the customer service is top notch!...the only thing better is the AMAZING views from the cabin's deck! Thanks for a great stay!! can't wait to come again.

Wow! What a view and a wonderful little cabin that was clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed to enjoy real family time. The owners where so nice and helpful. The four of us loved the whole area. We fished, biked, hiked, went peach picking, water skiing and tubing and our dog love this vacation as well. We made friends with other cabins and love enjoying our wine and dinners on the deck. We will definitely be back

We are located in a charming cedar cabin village of 11 homes with one of the best views on the lake. Our view of Smith Mountain is simply breathtaking. Our cabin is sited in one of the few no wake coves on the lake. The cove itself is about 60 acres, which is surrounded by undeveloped woods. This means safe and peaceful swimming ... no jet skis or fast speed boats We are only two football fields to the main channel to the lake but the 'No Wake' cove provides a serine protection, not found in lake communities.
