There is a mile long drive to reach our Lodge that is just magical. It is deeply wooded with an abundance of hardwoods on both sides, not a home in sight. Once you have made this turn on our lane, you will be delighted with the serine, natural beauty that surrounds our home.
Our recently renovated gorgeous home features a gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops and Tuscany styled charming maple cabinets, a large great room with cathedral ceilings and an incredibly beautiful floor to ceiling stone fireplace. Our one level home’s main living area is totally open so if you are in the kitchen, you are not isolated from the other guests. Cedar beams throughout the house adds a unique charm to this beautifully decorated and inviting home. All the furniture is extremely comfortable and cozy. We added an additional sun room featuring a panoramic wall of glass sun room provides breathtaking views of the lake and mountains from anywhere in the living area.
We offer three bedrooms and two full baths. The master bath has an over-sized custom tiled shower with three shower heads. The other bath offers a Jacuzzi tub. The cabinets are all rich maple with granite counter tops. The guest bedroom has a sliding glass door to the deck, which offers a fantastic view of the lake and Smith Mountain… what a way to wake up each morning.
Amenities include a 45 inch HD Sony TV, surround sound speakers and outdoor speakers, great for entertainment on our over sized trek deck. We live in the house for several months of the years so the house is appointed with every pot and pan, dish and glass wear imaginable. Many of our guests has told us it is far better equipped than their own homes. We also provide an array of spices.
The deck has two tables, lots of chairs, a hammock, and is surrounded by a basket s of flowers. There is a mature oak tree next to the deck and it’s gracefully limbs provides wonderful shade from early spring thru the fall. The deck’s view of the lake and the mountains is simply breathtaking. There is a lower level patio as well that has another table and chairs for six and a charcoal barbeque. We have a boat slip with two private docks, perfect for lots of fun water entertainment. It is 20 ' deep off our dock.
Our no wake 60 acres cove is famous for its abundance and variety of fish. It is where the strippers spawn every year and fisherman catch bass, muskies and cat fish right off our docks. You will see an exciting array of wild life including eagles, owls, ospreys, humming birds, wild turkey and of course deer but we also have several albino deer which are spectacular to see if you are lucky.
Ideally located in southwest Virginia's mountain foothills, our Lodge setting balances the beauties of landscape, mountains and lake with tranquility and recreational pursuits for a perfect vacation. Each season offers delights for the senses. Spring brings beautiful mountain laurels, azaleas, and dogwoods. Summers are lush with the aroma of heavy woods and an array of flower blossoms. Crape myrtles surround our property in late summer bursting our gardens with a variety of color. Autumn paints the landscape in burning brush strokes of red, gold, and orange. Each season is unique. The Mariners Landing golf course is o in the same community as the Point Restaurant which is renown on the lake as one of the top lakefront restaurants. They also have lots of fun entertainment over the summer and fall months so make sure you look them up.
Rent all types of boats at nearby marinas and enjoy parasailing, water skiing, sailing, water-skiing, jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking and for those with a large crowd you will love the huge pontoon boats. Our no-wake cove is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, and swimming. No worries of being run over by the jet skis or speed boats.
Our mile long drive into the property is perfect for long walks or biking. You will listen to only the sounds of nature as a beautiful hardwood forest hugs both sides of the road. Dear and turkey abound! Also if you like mountain biking, you are only a few minutes away.
There are lots of funs restaurants close by and the state park is just ten minutes away. The park offers summer fun programs for children at their camp pavilion. They also have a mile long lake front walking trail, a sandy beach, boat rentals, covered pavilions with barbeque grills and lots of night life entertainment.
You can take a ride on the Virginia Dare to see the lake and enjoy dinning for lunch or dinner. Next to the Virginia Dare is the Tiki Bar, a true fun spot for Jimmy Buffet fans.
On the side of the lake (about twenty minutes away) there are lots of fun clothing shops, miniature golf, arcade, art shop, ice cream parlor, cinema and great restaurants.
The area is rich in history; you will want to make sure you see the Booker T. Washington plantation, the D day Memorial in Bedford and take a tour of how the damn was constructed. And Roanoke is only 40 minutes away and has all kinds of fun night life at market square. It is considered one of the best towns in the state for Bluegrass music. A drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway is a must; the mountains are soft and lovely, and serenely beautiful.
