Nice, spacious home, with some exceptions...

I stayed in this home in August 2010 for 1 week. The home was spacious and beautiful and the location was great. The pictures do not do it justice, the property was clean and well maintained when we arrived.
However we had a few issues that I would like to address here...
The house states it has 4 bedrooms but it's actually 3 bedrooms and the 4th bedroom downstairs seems like a den that was converted into a room. We realized that you could not close the room door because the a/c did not cool well enough if you had the room door closed. We brought this up to the realtor and they sent the a/c repairman who deemed this could not be fixed. This defeated the purpose of this room, since there could be no privacy as we were instructed to "leave the door open" in order for it to cool properly.
Second, we were travelling with a toddler and went to use the infant high chair and a huge flying roach came out of it... needless to say, we did not use it.
Third, there were ants constantly in the kitchen area. We never left any food out but when we would start taking things out in the morning to make, there they were!!
Fourth, the green/ children's bicycle was all dirty and not in "useable" condition, nor was the playhouse that was in the pictures, so we were sad about this because we intended to use all the children's amenities.
Overall, we were pleased with the home and the location. There were plenty of towels/sheets and the house was well divided. The kitchen and laundry were pretty well stocked with amenities. Just wanted to address the above since I also like to read reviews about homes prior to renting them.

Owner's Response: I am really sorry to hear of the problems that this guest experienced. We have had so many satisfied guests over the last 10 years. We stay at this home ourselves and don't experience the problems she had.
I would like to clear up a few things though. First, on the 4th bedroom. Yes, it was originally a den in the floorplan, but we have always used it as a bedroom. My in-laws and son both sleep there. As in all homes, there is bound to be a spot that the AC isn't the best. That is this bedroom. That is why we have a ceiling fan. If that is used, the room stays comfortable. We have never needed to leave the door open.
I am sorry if the child's bike was "unusable". That is why we have a few different ones to use. Also, the manager on the island would have been happy to have had it "cleaned up" for her. The playhouse is the same one pictured. It has just been repainted. I will post some new photos of it.
I'm glad to see that the rented felt that the home was" clean and well maintained" and that the "pictures did not do it justice".
We try our best to keep our home in the best condition for our guests. Sometimes things happen, which is why we have 24 hour management available on the island.
I hope that addresses any concerns. We too have family and love to stay at our home on Marco. I hope you find your stay as enjoyable.
