A perfect choice

We arrived at Orchid Corner on 22.08.09 in immense heat (42 degrees) and was warmly welcomed by Carmela, who provided a well needed welcome drink of the local wine; which helped us to relax immediately!
Carmela is very knowledgable about the area and was able to give us lots of tips and advice - where to go and when etc. Although we had not made former arrangements for breakfast, we were offered breakfast at 3 Euro's per head, which we accepted and were very grateful we had by the end of the week. Antonio provided us with a hearty 'local' breakfast every morning; tomatoes, basil, garlic, cheese, breads, toasts, jams, coffee, juice - yummy! Both Carmela and Antonio provided an excellent service throughout our stay.
The listing and photographs of the Mini Apartment, where we resided, are perfectly accurate. We are a family of four with two grown children - our daughter (the eldest), slept 'on the mezzanine floor and our son shared our downstairs room on a single bed - we had a large double, which I think were two singles zipped together, and had plenty of room. Wardrobe space was a little compromised but plenty of hanging space on the balcony and various hooks to hang bits on - as per usual, we had all packed far too much! The garden is beautiful; backdrop fantastic
On arrival the property was very clean, sheets and towels all freshly laundered. Kitchen facilities ample for the purpose and an 'under the worktop' fridge to keep perishables in - plenty of crockery and cutlery. The shower could be a little temperamental at times, but nobody minded a cooler shower now and again. We paid extra to use the air conditioning and could not have survived without it - we often had to have it on all night as the temperature rarely dropped below 30 degrees.
The area of Meta is exceptionally convenient for all sightseeing - we did have a car as we had driven down from Rome, and were easily able to access Sorrento, Pompeii, Almafi, Vico, etc. Sorrento town itself is lovely in the evenings; very relaxed with hundreds of restaurants to choose from - alternatively, just find a bar and sit and watch the world go by.... We did visit the island of Capri, specifically to visit the 'Blue Grotto' however, it took the whole day and I cant say I was very impressed.
Locally there is a Pizzeria called 'Convent Garden' - this had to be the best tasting Pizza of the whole two weeks I spent in Italy but be warned - not for the faint hearted - the Pizza's are huge and well stacked!
