My wife grew up in Walla Walla and I met her while attending Whitman College. We love it there and try to get back as often as we can. We also love cycling and can make great recommendations for area rides, restaurants and other fun activities. Thanks for checking out our house.
Julie Rathbun purchased this house in 2006
Walla Walla is one of the greatest areas in the state for being outdoors, cycling, fishing, hunting and close to skiing at Bluewood in the Winter months. Of course Walla Walla is also home to some national and internationally renowned wineries and up and coming restaurants.
The Tandem House is located by the historic Pioneer Park. The park was designed by John Olmstead, who designed Central Park in New York, as well as numerous other Parks in Washington and Oregon. The Park is home to some state and national record trees. Tandem House is walking distance to Whitman College (10 min) and downtown (15-20 min). We also stock the garage with 3 speed bikes to explore the town on.
This house was perfect for our needs... with 5 women and 3 little boys we had Loads of room. The house was beautiful.. the Kitchen was FANTASTIC... I'm not a cook but my daughter loved it. The beds were comfy. The back yard was cute and cozy. The main floor had enough space we did our crafts or if we wished a bit of alone time to read or what, there were two extra sitting rooms. There were stairs, but they were not a deterrant. We visited Fort Walla Walla on our way out of town.
A group of 7 women cyclist and wine enthusiasts spent 3 nights at the Tandem House at the end of Sept. 2014. We were delighted by the roominess for all 7 of us (6 slept upstairs, 1 downstairs). The back entry way proved to be a perfect fit for our bikes, the front sitting room was our yoga studio (our Boise, Idaho gal teaches yoga) and we loved gathering on the back patio after our morning rides. The kitchen was spacious so several of us could be in the kitchen at one time preparing our coffee, tea, toast, eggs, or oatmeal before a morning ride. The Tandem House was absolutely perfect for our memorable weekend in Walla Walla.....loved it!
We just got back from a girl's getaway, 5 girls all staying at the Tandem House! When we first opened the door, we were so pleased with the huge, amazing kitchen and great layout! The bathrooms were all updated and clean, the beds were great and we loved staying in an old home! We walked into town, rode bikes, etc. Such a great place, will definitely stay here again!
We recently stayed in this house for 4 days. There were 5 in our party. We enjoyed the house very much. Loved the neighborhood. We took a walk every day in the morning and explored most of the neighborhood. One can even get downtown by foot in about 15 to 20 minutes. We love Walla Walla for the wine and the restaurants and the characters who live there. The house is very relaxing with plenty of room for 5 or 6 people. 3 full bathrooms.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Walla Walla and at the Tandem House! Spacious home with lot's of charm and modern kitchen. Coffee out back on the patio in the morning sun was to die for! We look forward to our next stay at the Tandem House!
Tandem House was the perfect weekend retreat for our wine tasting weekend. The location is perfect in the older part of Walla Walla, close to downtown. Each room was very comfortable and with 3 full baths; plenty of privacy. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you'll need to cook a meal. Recently remodeled, the updates are lovely, in keeping with its original craftsman styling. We would stay here again and highly recommended Tandem House.
