Shangri-La is a beautiful remodeled riverfront home with river access to a community beach across the street, a double kayak, two single kayaks, umbrella, chairs and inner tubes. Featuring bamboo floors, vintage board and bat ceilings, antique vanity and stone counters, the design keeps the charm of the 100-year-old original cottage while updating it with an open contemporary feel. With a large hot tub, wood burning fireplace, central heat, high-speed Internet access and unlimited domestic toll and long distance telephone service, this home offers a full range of amenities for all seasons. Two decks offer loungers for everyone as well as a charcoal barbecue, a fenced lawn and an outdoor shower. The back entrance to the home involves just a few steps, making the house accessible to guests who cannot climb many stairs. The kitchen has a full range of gourmet equipment, including a double oven, Cuisinart and ice cream making machine.

In fall, winter, and spring, Shangri-La offers end-of-the-road tranquility and quiet. In the summer, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, this area becomes a lively family vacation destination known as Summerhome Park. Along with free outdoor movies three times a week, children's arts and crafts classes, and Saturday night parties at the Lodge for adults, the Lodge offers beer, wine, ice cream, a pool table, and games. There will be a calendar of events and activities in the information binder in the home. All the activities are available for guests at Shangri-La and guests will find this summer community to be extremely friendly and fun, a nostalgic return to the simple recreational days of the 1950's.

Shangri-La is located at the end of Summerhome Park Road, around five minutes from a major wine-tasting area. Downtown Guerneville is a ten minute drive and, of all our large homes, Shangri-La is the closest to Santa Rosa and Healdsburg. There is hiking out the door, as well as wonderful biking and running routes from the house.

Please note: Dogs are not permitted on Summerhome Park Beach. If guests separate any of the beds at Shangri-La, they will need to make up those beds with appropriate linens for their stay, wash the extra linens, and re-attach the beds before they depart.
