Nice house, enjoyable stay, but couple gotchas

This is a nice house perched up above San Jose.
The view is great, and the four of us in the main house had a good time during our stay. The two in the apartment on the property weren't so thrilled with the place though.
We didn't know that another couple was staying in the upstairs apartment. We were under the impression we had rented the house and all that came with it, so this was a surprise even if they weren't around much.
The live in maid does not speak English at all so you better come in with some Spanish knowledge!
Here's the positives and negatives:
+ The view
+ The house - nice spot!
+ the price - nice!
- The outdoor dogs (3 of them) barked at all hours and stank
-> there's an older small dog that's the culprit, if he's inside at night, all is well, but they still stink...
-+ the maid - I'm not used to this so didn't know what to expect. Turns out not quite much and note the language barrier.
Escazu is nice, but not really in the heart of San Jose, it's up in the hillls which is actually nice for the view but a bit out of the way otherwise.
Overall, if we go down to Costa Rica again, I'd stay on the beach, San Jose is too far inland for our liking. Next time it's Jaco beach!

Owner's Response: This was a rental we would not now accept: first it was 5 people, then 6 and I think finally it turned into 7 individuals.
This was only the 3rd rental we had done and to have anyone dissatisfied in any way does not make us happy either.
That the home is in the Central Valley and not on the beach is readily known by the location given.
Overloading the property to save money doesn't make anyone happy. All of the families and couples who have stayed with us have been very happy.
Spanish is the native language spoken in Costa Rica.
