Activities including winter activities::
Yellowstone Park is only 9 miles away, with its geothermal features and wildlife - grizzly and black bears, wolves, mountain lions, moose, elk, deer, etc. Whether it's horseback riding, whitewater rafting, hiking, or fishing Yellowstone River and its many streams, creeks, lakes and ponds - you'll find it all right at your doorstep at Yellowstone Riverview Cabin! An added bonus is private pottery or stained glass lessons at the owner's studio.
This is a great place for a winter trip, because it's close to Gardiner, the only entrance to the Park that is car-accessible year round all the way through to Tower Falls, the Lamar Valley and Cooke City. Many groomed trails for cross-country skiing are located along this road. Or snowshoe Yellowstone with a park ranger, leaving from Mammoth Hot Springs. You can also also attend a talk about 'Wolves in Yellowstone' at the Albright Visitor Center (307-344-2263), and then take a Lamar Valley wildlife tour with Xanterra Tours (866-439-7375).
