  • This fun and funky houseboat comes complete with a private stateroom on the main level with a full-sized bed and a private full bath with shower. Below deck is a second sleeping cabin with two full beds, each with port holes looking out over the ocean, and a second full bath...perfect for kids! Please note that this space has a reduced height ceiling since it is below decks. Adults can comfortably fit below, but it could be difficult for folks with back problems or difficulty maneuvering. The total height is just over 4 feet.

Notes: A galley kitchen is on the main level as you walk through the sliding glass door off the dock. It is set up with fridge, stove and oven, and all the needed utensils/pots/pans; we include staples like coffee, herbs & spices. There is a flat panel TV with cable & DVD player on board, which you can watch while enjoying a tropical drink in the 'Tiki Lounge' inspired living room. Aloft is the sun deck with seating for six and views for miles. Catch some rays and relax with the rolling of the ocean and exceptional views of the Boston skyline. WiFi is included free with the rental. Laundry facilities (as well as additional on-shore bathrooms and showers) are conveniently located right at the marina. Also right on the pier, is the Tavern on the Water, a restaurant and bar with a great view of the Boston skyline, and on-shore grilling and picnic facilities. 'Kon-Tiki' is fully air-conditioned and heated and all linens and towels are provided.

We stayed on the house boat in august 2009. we were told someone would greet us and show us around the marina. that did not happen. The access code given to us was wrong and we had to ask for the code. As soon as we we arrived at the boat, it was unlocked and we were a bit concerned about that. We entered the house boat and it was dated and the stove needed replacing or a good cleaning and the boat smelled like sewer gas and was that way the whole week. We tried to stay outside as much as possible and not flush the toliet at night. The listing indicated other showers and laundry facilities available. We used them but they were filty and appeared to not have been cleaned in 5 months. I would not return or reccommend this house boat.
Owner's Response: We are saddened to receive this comment as we try our best to make sure every guest has an enjoyable and memorable experience. This is especially difficult as we were not given the ability to do anything do rectify the situation while the guest was on board. We were unaware there were any issues until receiving this comment last evening.

Unfortunately we are guests at the marina ourselves, and have no control over the gate code or the bathrooms on shore. The code was changed the day these guests checked aboard, and we were unaware of this change until we tried to access the marina later ourselves. If I had been called in the first place I could have gotten the new code immediately from the marina staff without issue.

The houseboat is an older boat, and we tried to accurately describe it through our listing description and photos. We have done many improvements and updates, and feel that the boat is a great value for those looking to experience the houseboat lifestyle. The issue with the toilets has been resolved. We replaced both, and now have no issues with the smell. Unfortunately these issues sometimes happen with little to no warning, and we only discovered it after the guests had left.

I apologize that I am unable to meet many guests personally when they arrive at the boat. I have created an extensive welcome book for each boat that thoroughly describes the boat and the surrounding area. I am also always reachable by phone to answer any questions.

I completely understand where this guest is coming from, and hope that I don't appear to be down playing their issues. We only wish we were given the opportunity to make this experience perfect for them, as is our ultimate goal.

Staying on the houseboat made our Boston vacation amazing. Location is ideal - close to transportation, the Freedom Trail, restaurants, stores, and with the most breathtaking views. Thank you!

We were the first group to stay on the Kon Tiki. What a wonderful vacation. The location is perfect. We parked our car in the free marina lot and never drove again. We took the T, the ferry, and walked to see everything there is to see in Boston. There were 5 children in the group, all who loved the boat. The different decks were a favorite spot for them to hang out. They all looked forward to heading back to the boat after a day of activities. Andy was great. He was devoted to making sure that we had an enjoyable stay on the boat. We could not have found a better place to stay in Boston. Brenda Scanlon
