Here for a week-long celebration - 3 couples - 4 of us all turning 50 while here!
we rented a mini-van (ouch!) from Brad's, which was very reasonable and worked well. we drove out to the West End of the Island - don't purchase a conch shell anywhere as there are piles of them along the raodside, despite the signs of "no dumping of conch shells is permited".
The weather during our stay was delightful respite from the awful Northeast winter, yet often too breezy and chilly for swimmers. so not too much time in the water.
We went out to Deadman's Cay where we found many treasure on the beach - neat shells & sea fans.
We spent a day at nearby Xanadu Beach, where Antoine, the Chef/Bartender, made what turned out to be the most wonderful meal - sandwiches of fish caught that day, fries made from potatoes he cut to order, as well as cole slaw prepared while the potatoes simmered. - slow (so order early) but worth the wait.
Dinner at the After Deck was unimpressive. The meal served at Sabor was good; service, however, was truly poor. The timing of meals was so off that some of us were finished before others were served.
We rented scooters and drove to the [Lucaya] National Park to visit the Beach and Caves. While we all agree that Gold Rock Beach is nice, I think that others were equally as good.
We had lunch that day at Banana Bay on Fortune Bay Drive. A fabulous beach-front location + a good lunch.
As we arrived by small, private planes, we were quite mobile & flew to Abaco one day, ferried out to Hopetown on Ubow Cay. It was truly lovely!! Quaint and picturesque.
The International Bazaar was vacated so all shopping is at Our Lucaya Village, where Friday and Saturday bring live music and entertainment.
The house served us well, was very well-appointed, with a lovely open layout which was perfect for the gathering of friends.
Thank you Isabel and Luis for sharing your home with us.

My name is Isabel Blitz and after 15 years in Vermont I moved with my husband and our three children to Annapolis, Maryland, where we have resided since 1992.
As our vacation home and secondary residence, my husband and I designed, built and decorated this villa in 2006, with the intention of gradually spending more time in Grand Bahama Island, away from the business stress and pressures of our professional lives and closer to the beauty and peacefullness that our villa in Grand Bahama Island offers.
Our Caribe Treasure Villa is a dream come true and a real paradise for those who demand, take care, and appreciate the best.
