WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT THIS VACATION RENTAL?
This vacation rental puts you on your own tropical island in a quiet cove of protected mangroves in the Gulf of Mexico. You stay on a 2 bedroom houseboat that is docked on the island. You have your own 17 foot boat for the entire week!
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN STAY AT QUIET COVE KEY?
Our rental license allows up to 6 people to stay on the boat. There is a queen bed in the master bedroom and a two doubles in the second. We also have a sofa in the living room.
HOW DO WE GET TO AND FROM THE ISLAND?
We provide you a boat to get to and from the island, which is only a couple minutes from shore. You can also use the boat to go fishing, go out to eat, or sightseeing during day light hours on the gulf side. You park your car on our easement (a driveway on shore) with your boat dock only feet from your car.
IS THERE ELECTRICITY AND RUNNING WATER ON THE ISLAND?
This is a rustic private tropical island. Your power comes from a generator and your water from tanks on the houseboat. The refrigerator is powered by solar panels. Besides the bathroom facilities on the houseboat, there is a composting toilet on the island, which is similar to an outhouse.
WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RENTING QUIET COVE KEY?
Quiet Cove Key rents from Saturday to Saturday. The boat is for use during day light hours only. The island has WIFI, but no TV.
WHAT IS ALL INCLUDED WITH THIS RENTAL?
On-shore: Designated parking spot with boat dock
Houseboat: 2 bedrooms, 2 bath, linens, towels and paper products provided. Kitchen and refrigerator are apartment sized.
Island: Covered shelters, gas grill, hammocks, kayaks, fire pit, boat dock
WHAT SURPRISES MIGHT WE HAVE?
The crystal clear waters around the island are visited by a variety of wildlife including dolphins, manatees, sting ray, lobster, crab, octopus, barracuda, parrot and angel fish, to name a few. Some of which are residents of the underside of the island. Snorkeling would be the best way to visit them. Guestbook comments from the owner
The houseboat fit our needs perfectly for the “camping” we did while we were there. We enjoyed the open-air feel and “back to nature” aspect of Quiet Cove Key. While I enjoyed using the fishing poles for catching some fresh “grunts” for lunch and dinner on a couple of days, we got the most use out of the kayaks………..definitely a nice addition. The location of Quiet Cove Key is very good, also. The view from most angles is of un-populated or un-developed land or water, and the proximity to civilization is more of a security blanket than an intrusion. The week seemed all-too-short. I've already shown the photos to the folks in my office and they were very impressed/envious. We’ll definitely keep this option for vacation in mind for future occasions.

We fell in love with the Florida Keys back in the 1980's when we took our first trip there. We toured the Keys from the water in a catamaran. We bought our first place there shortly after. We love owning all these properties in the Keys because it gives us a reason to come down from Wisconsin a couple times a year. We are looking to retire to the Keys someday.
The beauty of this island and it's surroundings was to irresistible to turn down.
This island is so beautiful and tucked away in this amazing cove surrounded by mangroves. It was the perfect place to put our houseboat. If you like camping or RV'ing, this place will blow your mind.
